The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Jan. 2 through Jan. 8. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 313 calls during this seven-day period.
ANIMAL PROBLEM
Jan. 2
8:23 a.m., Main Market Road, Troy. There is a deer in the water, possibly stuck in ice, thrashing around. South side of the bridge. Deputy responded. The deer is on top of the ice and cannot get good traction to stand up. The deer is making progress towards the shore. Auburn Fire Department is standing by until Division of Wildlife arrives.
CITIZEN ASSIST
Jan. 2
8:28 a.m., Elm Drive, Newbury. My car is blocked in by the neighbor’s and another person. I don’t want to ask them to move their vehicles because they have threatened me before. I want a deputy to ask them to move their car so I can get to work on time. Deputy advised. When the caller was asked for a phone number of the neighbor, the caller didn’t know the number. The caller wants a deputy to respond because she is afraid to go outside. She said the neighbors are moving out today. Vehicles were moved so she could get out.
CITIZEN’S DISPUTE
Jan. 6
3:56 p.m., Main Market Road, Parkman. Caller is the executor of her mother’s will. Mother’s residence is on Main Market. Caller’s brothers are threatening to throw her belongings out that are at the home. Female in the lobby to make report. Deputy advised. Complainant stated that she is in the process of selling her mother’s residence on Main Market and is in charge of her estate. Other family members have told the complainant that she needed to move her belongings out of their mother’s residence or they were going to throw the items out. Complainant is in the process of moving some of her art work stuff out. Complainant will have her attorney send her brother’s letters concerning the property left at the residence. Complainant will contact deputy if she has anymore problems.
EXTRA PATROL
Jan. 5
4:52 p.m., Hayes Road, Huntsburg. Caller is requesting extra patrol at her residence. She is being stalked by a subject in a white mid-90s Chevy Cavalier, no front plate, rear plate is in the back window.?It has followed her several times. Her husband has been making threats towards her. He is incarcerated at Richmond Correctional. There has also been a male standing outside her son’s window.

3:30 p.m., Main Market Road, Troy. Co-Owner of Blazin Bill’s Restaurant is requesting extra patrol by deputies during business hours of operation. Due to recent robbery attempts in the Parkman area, would like deputies to stop by every now and then and come into the establishment just to make a presence in the area. He thinks this may help his staff to feel safer in light of recent events regarding the attempted robberies of businesses in Geauga County and surrounding counties. Co-owner would like a deputy to come into the restaurant and ask for him. He states this does not need to be at certain times and it does not need to be every day. He is requesting that every so often if an officer is in the area and has a few minutes, he would appreciate one stopping in and offered to provide an officer with a warm cup of coffee for stopping in.
MEDICAL
Jan. 3
8:07 a.m., Lakeview Drive, Burton. Grandmother has been on the floor for two days. She is conscious. She said she was sick and throwing up. She takes blood thinner. Her knees and her legs hurt her. One leg is swelled. She hasn’t eaten or drank since the Jan. 1. She is 86 years old. She is breathing OK. Deputy responded. She looks pale and her face looks swollen. She lives alone. Squad to transport.
RV PROBLEM
Jan. 8
6:18 p.m., Rockhaven Road, Munson. Snowmobiles and 4-wheelers on the road in the area. Coming from a green house at corner of Rockhaven and Cedar. Deputy responded. Spoke with the parent and advised her to call him and make sure the sled is not going to be on the road. Citation will be issued next complaint.
SUSPICIOUS
Jan. 3
11:37 p.m., Leader Road, Hambden. Three white males in late teens approached his car asking if they could punch him. Two wearing jeans and white shoes, dark sweat shirt, one male wearing shorts. Last seen on Leader Road. Caller is no longer in the area. He did not see any weapons. Deputy responded. Spoke to one juvenile matching the description. He stated the guy in the truck called him and his friends names, so he yelled back. No further incident and the male drove away. The rest of the park checks ok.
Jan. 6
5:25 p.m., Claridon Troy Road, Troy. Caller advised some type of scam came up on his son’s phone. Phone is now locked up, and states he has to pay $300 to fix the phone within 24 hours, or a criminal case will be brought against the caller. Caller advised what came up on the phone has to do with child pornography.
THEFT
Jan. 5
6:18 p.m., Rock Creek Road, Thompson. Someone went into caller’s barn, stole a tackle box and gas can. Caller advised he has a camera and three people on tape breaking into the barn. Occurred on Jan. 3 at 3:21 a.m.
VANDALISM
Jan. 3
11:25 a.m., Huntley Road, Huntsburg. Vandalism at the Chagrin Valley Astronomical Society. Nails dumped inside the gate and the building was spray painted. Deputy advised. Complainant advised nails were dropped in the driveway and “ha ha” spray painted on the outside of the building. He has absolutely no idea who could be responsible. He advised that he was here last on 1-1-2015 and property was fine at that time. No suspects or leads at this time. Complainant wanted documentation of the incident.
WELFARE CHECK
Jan. 7
4:40 p.m., Hillcrest Drive, Munson. Male has not shown up for work in four days. Company is unable to get ahold of the male and is requesting a welfare check. Deputy advised. After several attempts to call him, checked with the area hospitals, and attempted to contact family, no further clues could be obtained. Deputies then forced entry to a garage main door and located the male in the house. He stated that he has been sick for awhile and was sleeping heavily. He denied rescue several times and declined any further assistance. He was advised of the minor damage to the door frame and stated that he would take care of it. He also advised that he sent an email to his employer today, notifying them that he has been sick.
