The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office March 13-19. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 386 calls during this seven-day period.

DOMESTIC DISPUTE

March 13

8:48 p.m., Ravenna Road, Munson. Caller is having problems with her 18-year-old son. She states he got caught stealing prescription pills from his girlfriend’s relatives this evening. Caller and her husband picked him up from Warren and brought him home. Now he wants to leave and caller is concerned he may harm himself. He also got expelled from Auburn yesterday for having pills at school. Deputy advised. Verbal only; no violence or threats. The 18-year-old male wanted to leave the house against his family’s wishes.

FIRE

March 19

3:09 p.m., Tavern Road, Burton. Vehicle on fire. Caller’s car has been parked for a month. The caller drove it for the first time today. Either a mechanical issue or an animal built a nest, which may have ignited from the heat of the motor.

HARASSMENT

March 17

4:18 p.m., Main Market Road, Parkman. The caller would like a deputy to call him. He keeps getting harassed by a credit card company. Deputy advised. Complainant has received several telephone calls from sales people concerning credit debt. Complainant is on the “do not call” list. Complainant wanted it documented that he is still getting these calls. Complainant does not have a telephone number where the telephone calls are coming from. He was advised to purchase an answering machine to avoid these calls.

JUVENILE PROBLEM

March 15

10:02 p.m., Shedd Road, Middlefield. Caller states this address is at a dead end on Shedd Road. Caller states there are approximately 200 people at this party. Caller advised there are juveniles there drinking. Unknown whose residence this is; caller believes it is an Amish house. Deputy responded. Large Amish party which was disbursed and all parties got a ride home.

SUSPICIOUS

March 14

3:53 p.m., Thompson Road, Thompson. Caller states there are five to seven cars in the lot and he believes kids are inside the school. Caller hung up before anymore information could be obtained. Deputy called caller back and states the kids are inside the building playing basketball. It appears they have permission to be there. Open gym Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. No cause for alarm.

March 16

11:44 a.m., Burton Windsor Road, Burton. Male walking while wearing a handkerchief on his head with a “biker” jacket, carrying a backpack, walked up onto my patio earlier today. He asked the caller for a glass of water and lingered in the area for a bit. He has been seen walking in the area before, but came to the house today. White male about 40-50 years old with gray hair and beard and mustache. Male is about 140-145 pounds and 5 feet, 6 inches to 5 feet, 7 inches tall. A local taxi driver told the caller the male is known to carry a firearm, which he keeps hidden in the woods by Mapleview Church at “The Flats.” The caller did not observe the male with a gun. Deputy unable to locate male.

March 16

8:56 p.m., Murphy Road, Montville. Male states he was driving his ATV home from his father’s house on the roadway when a snowball was thrown at him by a kid. The male states he locked up the brakes and nearly wrecked his vehicle. He then confronted the group of children, who denied throwing the snowball. The male states he can see the kids walking around and he is concerned they may be searching for his house.

March 17

11:09 a.m., Bundysburg Road, Hunts-burg. About an hour ago, while I was gone from the residence, the Amish neighbors where here using the phone. They heard something and saw a man standing sideways near my bedroom. They got scared and went running home. The only thing strange is the outside cat was in the house. Nothing appears to be missing or disturbed. There were no strange cars in the area. They did not say if anyone left the house. The caller and homeowner is inside the house now and doesn’t see anyone.

March 18

12:32 a.m., Plank Road, Montville. I’ve been renting a basement apartment since August and moved in October. I came home and saw a tanning bed in the downstairs area and when I looked up I saw a camera. Deputy will follow-up with the complainant in a few days. The camera that was located was a real time camera that is only battery powered and had a red light showing on back, which may have indicated a low battery. Complainant was the only one home at the time. No one was thought to be viewing the complainant and the complainant was only in the area of the camera today.

THREATENING

March 15

9:56 p.m., Cloverdale Drive, Middle-field. Caller states her soon-to-be-ex-husband and his new girlfriend threatened her today via telephone. This stems from an argument between caller’s 11-year-old daughter and the new girlfriend’s 17-year-old daughter. Caller requesting deputy to still respond tonight and call her when they are on their way. Deputy advised. The complainant advised that her soon-to-be-ex called and told her, “it can be easy or hard.” It is unclear what he is referring to, possibly their divorce hearing. She was given advice to contact her attorney. At this time there were no direct threats of harm to anyone.
