The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office June 12-18. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 334 calls during this seven-day period.

EXTRA PATROL

June 12

5:15 p.m., Punderson Road, Newbury. Person is driving through the development very fast. The speed limit in this area is 25 mph. Caller believes she is going around 45 mph through the development. She has been asked to slow down, but will not. This usually occurs between 2:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. She is driving a small, dark blue car. She turns down Crampton or Forestwood. Deputy observed nothing. Private property.

HARASSMENT

June 16

8:18 p.m., Mayfield Road, Claridon. The caller is in the lobby. He wants to file a harassment report. He would not give me any further information because there were other people in the lobby. Male provided information of what he feels is suspicious activity and dissatisfaction with the trailer park manager. Deputy requested complainant to complete a statement and he refused, stating he needed to make it home before dark and will speak with his attorney first then return to the sheriff’s office.

JUVENILE PROBLEM

June 13

7:03 p.m., Linda Drive, Newbury. There are seven kids at the park across the street from the caller’s house. He said it appears they are going to fight. When I asked about weapons, he hung up. No weapons are seen. He thinks someone is going to get assaulted. All of the kids are near the rear of the circle.?He said the kids are not from around here. All white kids. The caller is no longer able to see them. Deputies arrived and checked the neighborhood. There was no group of people located anywhere in the area.

POISONING

June 17

5:18 p.m., Newcomb Road, Middlefield. One-year-old female drank kerosene oil. She is coughing. Caller advised she was in critical condition, but could not give any further information. He was not with the patient and was not willing to go where she was. Advised to call back if had any further information or if he was with the patient.

SUSPICIOUS

June 15

5:33 p.m., Mayfield Road, Munson. Graffiti on the dumpster. Caller thinks it looks like “Cops 2 Die” and does not think it should be left on the dumpster. Deputy advised. The graffiti is very small on the dumpster and cannot be easily read unless up close. It is also very difficult to decipher due to the style it was done in. The clerk at Circle K was advised and will try to take care of it.

June 17

2:27 a.m., Woodin Road, Hambden. Someone banging on the door. Also saw a light in the front yard. Resident is home by herself. She is in her bedroom, which is in the rear of the house. This occurred approximately 10 minutes ago. Resident has not heard anything further. The resident does not have any animals inside or outside of the residence. She states after she heard banging on the front door, she saw a green light in the front yard.

TRAFFIC HAZARD

June 14

8:18 a.m., Kinsman Road, Burton. Bicyclists are riding 4-5 wide taking up the entire eastbound lane. Motorists are unable to get around and pass them because it is such a long large group of them. Deputy spoke with some bicyclists and advised them to stay to the right as much as possible.

June 17

10:36 a.m., Ravenna Road, Newbury. O’Reilly’s Trailers is getting dirt delivered. The trucks are leaving clumps of mud in both lanes of traffic. This went on yesterday and again today. It is a road hazard and a hazard for motorcyclists especially. Deputy advised. Checked area. Noted a small amount of dirt on the roadway. Not a hazard at this time.

WEAPON OFFENSE

June 13

6:40 p.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Caller states someone behind her to the north is shooting. Caller states she felt the bullets go by her head when she was outside. Deputy met with complainant who said he heard rounds going right over his head that came from the west. Deputy checked the property to the west and could not locate anyone. Deputy did not hear any gunshots.
