The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office July 3-9. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 456 calls during this seven-day period.

ANIMAL PROBLEM

July 2

2:17 p.m., Bass Lake Road, Munson. Neighbors’ dogs are in a cage fighting and keep barking. The teenager that lives there was bitten. Someone needs to go over there. My son wrapped the teenager’s arm up. Caller advised these are pit bulls and there have been problems with them in the past. Refused medical treatment from Munson rescue. Mother on location and stated her son was fine.

8:13 p.m., Highland Drive, Troy. Caller has a large snapping turtle in her yard. Caller was trying to get it to go into the woods with a broom handle, but it won’t go. She also says the animals keep leaving the pond behind the property and coming into the yards. Turtle was removed and placed in the woods. Turtle went to the creek and left the area.

July 3

11:50 a.m., Essex Court, Claridon. A turkey got into my dog pen and is very injured. I would like a deputy to come and dispatch it. Transported injured turkey to Penitentiary Glen.

July 8

3:03 p.m., Kile Road, Claridon. Snake in the house, need assistance getting it out. Caller says that the snake went into a hole in the stairs. They are concerned due to the fact that there is a baby in the house. The family was advised to call an exterminator or animal control, and that a unit will be over to assist when possible. Caller stated that she snake had skin of an anaconda. Deputy advised. Snake was unable to locate, picture appears to be a rat snake.

BURGLARY

July 6

4:09 p.m., Auburn Road, Chardon. Caller advised she just came home. States someone broke into her house. Her house is torn up, unknown if anyone is still inside. Caller advised she is in the backyard with her grandchild, 1 month old and 2 year old. Callers vehicle is in the driveway. The house was locked up when she left and when she returned. Her husband is en-route to the home and will be driving a motorcycle. Callers front door has been kicked in. Caller advised when she went in, the bedroom and office were torn apart. Report taken.

CITIZEN ASSIST

July 5

8:14 a.m., Ravenna Road, Claridon. Male needs transport to Chardon Tavern. He is not intoxicated; clear to drive. Transport complete.

EXTRA PATROL

July 3

11:50 a.m., Campton Ridge Drive, Chardon. Caller has had her property “toilet papered) multiple times and was advised by her children it may happen again this weekend. She requests extra patrol throughout the weekend, especially between the hours of midnight and 2 a.m. Her children will not say who is responsible, if they actually do know.

JUVENILE PROBLEM

July 9

6:43 p.m., Thrasher Road, Troy. Approximately 13-15 year old female was seen walking through caller’s woods. The resident attempted to check on her, she did have a cell phone, but stated she was lost and had been walking for about an hour. She was afraid and wouldn’t go with the residents to let them help her. She went back into the woods. She was wearing pants and a grey hooded coat with the hood up. Female was located at her residence in Portage County. Female said she had gone for a walk, and got turned around in the woods. Female is here from North Carolina staying with family.

SUSPICIOUS

July 9

9:10 a.m., Linda Drive, Newbury. Person has a tent set up at the playground. Caller thinks its a kid, not from here. Just wants it checked. Deputy made contact with the occupant of the tent. He stated that he had no where else to go and did not realize it was private property. Advised him that he could be charged with trespass, as signs are present stating that the area is GMHA property with restricted access. Provided with alternate options for shelter. Given warning for trespass.

THEFT

July 2

11:49 a.m., Chanticleer Court, Auburn. Complainant wanted to document his wife left him in May 2015 and took the children without his permission. Wife also comes back to the hime when complainant’s not home and takes marital property. Wife has complainant’s work computer and large monitor, and won’t give it back. He has sent wife emails requesting those items back. Complainant stated wife might have taken a shotgun from the home. Complainant advised to contact a civil attorney.

6:01 p.m., Hotchkiss Road, Burton. Handgun stolen in January 2014. Caller would like a report. Call clear.
