The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office July 24-30. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 381 calls during this seven-day period.

ANIMAL PROBLEM

July 28

4:19 a.m., McCall Road, Parkman. Black bull running loose in the area. Caller almost hit it. Cow was located and put back into the pasture.

CITIZEN ASSIST

July 30

8:58 p.m., Kenny Drive, Hambden. Caller held onto some weapons and ammunition he took into custody from a male when he went to jail around a year ago. Now he is a felon and he wants them back. I no longer want to be in possession of these weapons. He was getting upset today when I said I would not give it to him. A 12-guage shotgun and about 15 shells. Deputy collected.

EXTRA PATROL

July 29

5:46 p.m., Munn Road, Auburn. There is a soccer game or another event going on. Caller states there are multiple cars flying up and down the road and he is requesting extra patrol in the area this evening. Deputy spoke with a few of the parents who stated they would have the coaches make an announcement after practice to slow down coming in and out of the park.

Found Property

July 30

1:46 a.m., Kevin Lane, Hambden. Out with homeowner, found a county road sign under his house. Will be returning it to the county.

HARASSMENT

July 24

9:53 p.m., Madison Road, Montville. Receiving harassing messages via social media. She has blocked the persons on Facebook, but they are continuing to harass the caller. She would like to speak with a deputy and file a report.

JUVENILE PROBLEM

July 25

9:28 p.m., Paradise Drive, Middlefield. Boy who lives behind me has threatened to kill my 8-year-old son. I believe he is on probation.

SUSPICIOUS

July 27

4:14 p.m., Shedd Road, Middlefield. Silver vehicle is blocking the roadway. Caller asked the male driver if he was OK. He never looked at her; just continued to clean his finger nails. UTL/GOA.

July 28

9:17 a.m., Burton Windsor Road, Middlefield. Multiple vehicles are stopped at the intersection and people are flagging down for help. People at the location do not speak English; unknown what the problem is. Mother appears to be caressing her child’s cheek. The people are arguing and getting back in the car. They apparently stopped to get a lamb. Deputy advised.

THEFT

July 24

4:35 p.m., Kinsman Road, Middlefield. Son’s bicycle was stolen from the property while she was out running errands. Theft of a green color Ninja Turtle kids bicycle. Report taken.

July 25

10:01 a.m., Mentor Road, Chardon. Female reporting theft of jewelry from 2012. Caller does not know who took it. Many people have been in the house including a cleaning crew. Female says she sent an email to GCSO three years ago with pictures of what was taken. Caller did state her insurance company asked why she waited so long to report her jewelry missing. Caller never filed a police report until this date. Caller never filed a police report until this date.

July 30

11:45 a.m., Beechwood Drive, Newbury. Would like a report for a stolen mailbox. Mailbox was located upon responding officer’s arrival. Was removed from the pole and thrown into the woods. Extra patrol requested.

4:11 p.m., LaDue Trail, Auburn. Male in lobby to report a theft. Spoke to both parties involved, Premier Gunite and Pattie Group. After speaking to both, learned that both companies entered into a verbal/written contract over a pool. Complainant Premier Gunite advises they did their job and want payment. Pattie Group states Premier Gunite was behind on job and did not do what they agreed upon. Both parties advised a civil issue and advice was given.

5:29 p.m., Rock Creek Road, Hambden. Reporting theft of 9-10 pieces of rough sawn pine, 2×8 pieces of wood. Report taken.

TRAFFIC CRASH

July 29

3:17 p.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Carter Lumber flat bed truck was sitting in the parking lot, a black Saturn SUV backed into the truck and shattered his back window then took off. Unknown what direction the Saturn was traveling. Employee at Speedway is going to try and pull the tape. Deputy spoke with the driver of the Carter Lumber truck. He stated there was no damage to his vehicle and did not wish to make a report.
