The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Aug. 7-13. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 335 calls during this seven-day period.
ANIMAL PROBLEM
Aug. 13
4:51 a.m., Pioneer Road, Huntsburg. Two cows in roadway. Deputy advised cows were herded up and in a pasture. Clear.
CITIZEN ASSIST
Aug. 7
6:25 p.m., Georgia Road, Middlefield. Caller states she and approximately eight employees quit at a restaurant approximately two weeks ago due to poor working conditions. She states owners would hit employees and mistreat them. Caller states they have also thrown shoes at employees. Caller states she just received final paycheck and it is not for correct amount, shorted approximately $100. Caller is afraid to confront owners due to their past behaviors and would like to speak with a deputy. Deputy advised and assistance given.
Aug. 10
1:21 a.m., Berkshire Industrial Parkway, Burton. Caller works for company and has a large deposit. She is behind the building and is uncomfortable because another vehicle just pulled in and turned its lights off. Assist given.
8:46 a.m., Main Market Road, Parkman. Subject on post to report a theft at the store. Deputy advised. Subway employee took a bad check. Store owner took half the money from employee’s check. Advised civil matter.
CITIZEN DISPUTE
Aug. 8
5:02 p.m., Hotchkiss Road, Newbury. Neighbor came over and mowed part of her yard. Deputy advised. Documented.
Aug. 9
10:34 p.m., Rutland Road, Parkman. Amish throwing tomatoes at each other. Neighbors will talk to boys’ parents.
Aug. 11
4:50 p.m., Tavern Road, Troy. Would like to speak to a deputy regarding a dispute over a tractor that recently was purchased. Advice was given to contact an attorney for further action.
Aug. 12
7 p.m., Knotty Pine Lane, Hambden. Caller states each neighbor has 3 acres, but neighbors’ chickens and roosters keep coming on their property and are waking the household up in the mornings. Caller states she has tried to speak with the neighbors about it, but they just ignore their requests to keep the animals on their own property.
Aug. 13
9:35 p.m., Princeton Road, Huntsburg. Neighbor is running large commercial bulldozers on property and chasing people out of campgrounds and knocking over trees. Caller is aware it is a civil matter, but would like a deputy to speak with him. Deputy advised. Report taken.
INTOXICATED PERSON
Aug. 12
2:15 a.m., Madison Road, Thompson. Male will not leave the caller’s residence and is highly intoxicated. Caller says he is being inappropriate with people there with sexual comments. Male is locked out of the residence and knocking on the door. Caller doesn’t believe he has any weapons. Party is mostly females and they don’t feel comfortable with him there. Male drank 6-7 beers and a half bottle of Fireball. Males were invited to the party and after several drinks, one of the males made advances toward caller. Males said they did not leave because they didn’t have a ride. Both males given ride by deputy to house in Chardon.
ROAD RAGE
Aug. 11
2:03 p.m., Taylor May Road, Auburn. White Chevy Cavalier driven by a female. She is screaming out the window, stops in the road and parked her car across both lanes and will not let me get by. She is now turning on Quinn Road.
SUSPICIOUS
Aug. 10
5:31 a.m., Bud Drive, Middlefield. I woke up to go to work and my tan F150 van is destroyed. The airbags are deployed, the windshield is busted and lights are on. My cousin used it before. He is not here and his car is gone, and the keys to my car are missing. Unknown what is going on.
Aug. 11
5 a.m., Mayfield Road, Munson. Male wearing white T-shirt and black sweat pants, and carrying a bag and a guitar, advised caller he was running away from home. Would not let caller give him a ride. Was not sure if the subject went north on 44 or west on 322. Transported 18-year-old male to 322/306.
THEFT
Aug. 11
2:31 p.m., Edgewater Drive, Newbury. My wife took my income tax paperwork from my house. We had a protection order but that no longer is active. The judge said all paperwork was to stay at my house. No crime committed; advice given.
Aug. 13
6:07 p.m., Chardon Road, Chardon. Male was loaned a firearm in September 2014 and will not return it. Deputy advised. Complainant wanted it documented in case the gun showed up or was pawned.
THREATENING
Aug. 10
3:40 p.m., Bundysburg Road, Middlefield. Complainant received threatening messages left on his outside phone and would like to speak with a deputy. Report to follow.
WEAPONS OFFENSE
Aug. 10
2:11 p.m., Payne Road, Parkman. Saturday, caller was driving down Hobart Road. Male subject was waving his arms at caller in the roadway so he stopped to ask what the problem was. He advised male drew a gun (kept it pointed down) and was swearing at him. Caller left area without incident but would like to file a report. Deputy advised. Caller doesn’t want to file a report due to the male being unstable. He doesn’t want any problems with him. Caller will call again of this happens again.
