The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Sept. 4 through Sept. 10. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 482 calls during this seven-day period.

ANIMAL ABUSE

Sept. 4

3:59 p.m., Cheshire St., Burton. Dog locked in vehicle since 10 a.m. Witnessed by parking attendant. Deputy advised. Dog was crated in a vehicle with its windows down. Female driver of the vehicle told parking lot attendants she would only be at the fair for an hour. The time was 10 a.m. Since 10 a.m., parking lot attendant has been checking on the dog and taking the dog for walks and making sure the dog had water.

The driver of the vehicle has not been located by dayshift, however attempts will continue to locate

the driver.

ASSAULT

Sept. 6

9:39 a.m., Cheshire St., Burton. Older male at Gate 9 advising he was pushed out of his car and robbed last night. Deputy advised. Said his shoulder hurts from being pushed out of the car. Station 2 advised that he was at their station yesterday reporting the same thing. Subject transported to Station 1 to be checked out.

CITIZEN’S DISPUTE

Sept. 9

4:24 p.m., Kile Road, Montville. Farm on Kile Road. They had three of their turkeys out in the road. A male showed up at their home and stated if they did not remove the turkeys he would, “blow their brains out.” When the caller was trying to get the turkeys out of the road, the male took a metal rake and hit one of the turkeys with it. The male is a neighbor. Caller now has the turkeys back in her barn and the neighbor is back on his own property. Deputy spoke to both parties.

EXTRA PATROL

Sept. 8

8:01 a.m., Bass Lake Road, Munson. Anonymous letter received advising of a complaint of barking dogs and shooting. The letter advised of barking dogs and also that the owner is constantly shooting off the upper deck and killing any animal that comes into his yard. He uses different weapons. Complaints advised they cannot tolerate this behavior and do not feel safe with all of the shooting. This occurs mostly on Fridays through Sundays in the morning. This is an ongoing problem and requested at least patrol to be done in the area and see if anything can be done.

SUSPICIOUS

Sept. 7

10:09 a.m., Aquilla Road, Claridon. Bald male with a scruffy beard wearing tan shorts and a white sleeveless shirt is attempting to flag down motorists, possibly hitchhiking. When the caller refused to pick him up, he started flailing his arms. He is walking up and down the road, probably in the area of the blind camp. Deputy advised. Male was getting exercise and is a Country Home resident.

Sept. 9

3:55 p.m., View Drive, Newbury. Male has been laying on the bleachers all day at the beach. The caller says the male is known to take heroin and that a female came to wake him up a while ago, but it took awhile to wake him up. He is awake now. Shirtless with blue shorts. At night the male sleeps at the beach in a tent. Deputies checked the area and were unable to locate.

TRAFFIC CRASH

Sept. 6

3:42 p.m., Pekin Road, Newbury. Black vehicle hit the caller and continued on. Eastbound on Pekin from Bass Lake. The car should have passenger side damage. Black sedan. The caller is in a red GMC?pickup. The caller advised she is not injured. Per the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the female is falsifying the claims of another vehicle hitting her. She struck a sign near Munson Elementary. There are pieces of her vehicle there.

TRAFFIC OFFENSE

Sept. 8

5:48 p.m., Heath Road. Caller advised someone is racing a motorcycle up and down Heath Road south of Mayfield. Caller advised he will not leave his name. He was unable to provide a description of the motorcycle other than it is extremely loud and sounds like he is traveling at a high rate of speed. This has been going on for the last 10-15 minutes.
