The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Sept. 11 through Sept. 17. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 401 calls during this seven-day period.

BURGLARY

Sept. 13

1:10 p.m., Aquilla Road, Claridon. Just discovered the house was broken into sometime after Labor Day. Forced entry through a rear window. Plumbing, copper pipes taken from the basement. Caller waiting in a blue minivan and a white panel van in the driveway.

EXTRA PATROL

Sept. 17

8:47 a.m., White Road, Burton. For Amish School on Georgia Road. The vehicles are not slowing down for the school zones, flashing lights but no posted limit. The speed limit is 40 but the vehicles are going faster than the posted limits. A semi almost hit

children the other day. Info noted. Will conduct patrol during hours.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

Sept. 13

11:41 a.m., Bass Lake Road, Munson. Resident was just notified by his neighbor that approximately one hour ago a white sedan struck his mailbox, destroying the post. The vehicle left behind a passenger side window and windshield wiper. It appears the car could have some considerable damage. Deputy advised. White Ford, possibly sedan, struck the mailbox. Mirror parts identify it as a Ford.

SUSPICIOUS

Sept. 17

8:02 a.m., Ravenna Road. & US 422. Male called Chagrin Valley dispatch. He advised a possible vehicle impersonating an police officer. Contact made with subject. He advised dark green pickup with red and blue lights on top and in the grill, no other markings that he could see. Requested area be checked. Unknown if vehicle involved is volunteer fireman-paramedic responding to a call. No crime based on call comments.

Sept. 17

8:07 a.m., Stafford Road, Auburn. Silver colored Buick Regal was at the intersection and the driver appeared to aim a gun out the sunroof and shoot it. Caller advised that it did not sound like a real gun but a cap gun. Occurred approximately 5 minutes ago and the caller is not behind the vehicle. Deputy checked the area described. Unable to locate.

THEFT

Sept. 16

5: 27 p.m., Taylor Wells Road, Claridon. Theft of a dirtbike. Happened last night. It was chained to a pole right across the street. It’s an Apollo Sport. No plate. It’s a kids dirtbike. Deputy advised. Complainant advised that a kids dirtbike was stolen last night that he had chained to a telephone pole. He stated that he purchased the dirtbike used and had absolutely no identifying information including a serial number. He stated it was an off brand that had the word Apollo written on the seat. No suspects or leads at this time.

VANDALISM

Sept. 12

7:49 p.m., Hart Road, Montville. The caller just arrived home. His vehicle was parked inside his locked garage and his vehicle window was smashed. No forced entry into the garage. There is nobody inside the residence. This occurred sometime in the last 24 hours. Complainant stated that some time between yesterday and time of call, his car was parked in his garage. His house was all locked up, including his doors and windows. He stated that his driver side front window was broken. Unknown cause, nor any suspects. No evidence located.
