Sheriff’s Report

The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Dec. 4 through Dec. 10. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 369 calls during this seven-day period.

CITIZEN’S ASSIST

Dec. 4

7:27 p.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Caller states that he went inside to use the ATM and saw a debit card lying on the floor. He picked it up and stuck it on the window sill. Caller then used the ATM himself and it took his card and did not kick it back out. Caller thinks that it might kick out his card and then his card will be left on the floor where he found the other card. He tried to cancel his transaction and it wouldn’t give him his card back. Male left the bank without his card and would like an officer to go check the bank. Deputy located the card and returned the card to the owner.

EXTRA PATROL

Dec. 4

10:52 a.m., Burton Windsor Road, Huntsburg. Angry female wants police presence at the intersections of Burton Windsor and Madison Road. She claims no one stops at the stop signs any where in the Middlefield area and that the Amish taxi drivers don’t know how to drive. Her issue today was at Burton Windsor and yesterday was at Springdale in the Village. Female was also advised of the use for 911 and given the non-emergency phone number.

SUSPICIOUS

Dec. 6

9:48 p.m., Linda Drive, Newbury. Caller says that her residential alarm has gone off twice and they saw a shadow of a person outside. They also said that a vehicle pulled away from the service drive next to their house. Caller says that she does have weapons in the residence but they are locked in a safe. Both females in the residence are very upset, said this happened 10 minutes ago. The female’s residence was broken into awhile ago. Deputy checked the area and was unable to locate any suspicious vehicles.

Dec. 7

7:40 p.m., Shaw Road, Troy. Caller would like to remain anonymous, states she hears loud dogs barking and crying. She believes that there may possibly be dog fighting going on in the area. She would like Shaw Road checked. Deputy checked the area. Coon hunter at Wildlife area running dogs.

Dec. 8

3:29 p.m., Bundysburg Road, Parkman. There was a silver minivan that was pulled off the road with a white male with a mustache standing outside the vehicle. When the caller passed, he got back in his van and was following her at a slow rate of speed. The caller is an off duty Chagrin Falls police officer and felt the situation was strange. Area checked, unable to locate the van.

Dec. 9

9:52 p.m., Main Market Road, Troy. Looked like someone was trying to hang lights and the ladder fell. Looks like someone hanging from the gutter. Deputy found it to be fake. Met with owner and explained to them that we received a call for a person in distress hanging off a roof.

TRAFFIC CRASH

Dec. 8

6:21 p.m., Burton Windsor Road, Huntsburg. Caller states she hit a buggy. Male inside buggy. Unknown if he is injured. Caller’s husband checked on the male in the buggy who is stating he is ok. 10-year-old female in the car with the caller and her father. Male was alone in the buggy. Cite issued for stop sign violation.
