The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Jan. 22 through Jan. 28. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 315 calls during this seven-day period.

CITIZEN ASSIST

Jan. 25

4:26 p.m., Equestrian Drive, Burton. Caller would like to surrender a weapon to be disposed of. Male is in the lobby. Deputy met with the complainant who wanted to turn over a gun to the Sheriff’s Office for disposal. Entered gun into evidence.

LACERATION

Jan. 23

1:19 p.m., Main Market Road, Parkman. 38-year-old female drinking and put her hand through a glass window. She won’t go to the hospital, but the cut is to the muscle. Deputy assisted Fire Depart-ment with intoxicated female that had cut her wrist punching a window following a verbal argument. No violence or threats reported. Female was cooperative with Deputies and EMS during transport and at the hospital.

NOISE PROBLEM

Jan. 27

6:06 a.m., Knotty Pine Lane, Hambden. Complainant is stating that the neighbor’s dog lives outside in a dog house and it keeps barking. Complainant was advised that there is no noise ordinance in Hambden and that this problems needs to be brought to the Dog Wardens Office. Complainant stated that the have complained to the Dog Warden but the dog continues to bark. The complainant is trying to work with the Sheriff’s Office to get the noise ordinance changed. Deputy called the complainant back and advised her that the Sheriff’s Office could take no further action at this point. She was aware that the Township needed to pass a noise ordinance for the Sheriff’s Office to take further action and that disorderly conduct was not the proper charge for a barking dog.

SUSPICIOUS

Jan. 22

6:13 p.m., Colony Lane,?Burton. Caller says he fell asleep and when he woke up, there was a small tube with a white powder sitting on his lap. He says it smells very bad. He first smelled it yesterday. He put it in a bag. Broken piece of a lamp cover.

Jan. 25

9:51 a.m., Reynolds Road, Parkman. Male at the door in hunting gear with a shotgun. He may want to know if he can hunt, but caller does not want to answer the door or talk thru the door. He is in the backyard now. Caller cannot see a vehicle. He also has a dog with him. Deputy met with complainant and obtained information. Located and spoke with and ID’ed hunter.

Jan. 26

12:33 p.m., Butternut Road, Newbury. Got an app on my phone that tells me when my garage door is open.?I just got notice that it opened and closed. Would like an officer to check my house. There should not be any cars in the driveway. Deputy advised. Exterior checked secure, contacted complainant, who requested interior be checked as well. Complainant resecured home via phone app.

Jan. 27

9:26 p.m., Washington St., Auburn. Caller states that there is a tanker truck at the bar next door and there is a hose running from the truck to inside and he doesn’t see any markings on the truck and he can hear a pump running. He doesn’t know if they are doing anything illegal and he would like it checked on. Deputy spoke with the owner who stated they were having water issues. The tanker truck is their supply of water until the issue is fixed.

Jan. 28

4:38 p.m., Valley Road, Auburn. White female, 12-14 years old stands by LaDue on Valley. She is wearing a red sweatshirt and jeans. She stands by the side of the road and in the roadway almost every night for hours on end. Caller is concerned for her well being. Deputy spoke with the female. She was just out for a walk, she lives on the street.
