The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Feb. 19 through Feb. 25. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 332 calls during this seven-day period.
911 CALL
Feb. 23
6:08 p.m., Golden Pond Drive, Auburn. Screaming at beginning of call. Then heard two small children laughing. Second hangout, sounded like children laughing stating “I’m on the phone with 911”, then when dispatch answered they said “oh no”, and hung up. Deputy spoke with the father who advised everything is fine. Father contacted by dispatch and will handle the issue with the kids playing with the phone.
HARASSMENT
Feb. 23
5:29 p.m., Rockhaven Road, Newbury. Caller states a neighbor is accusing him of breaking into her home. This female has made numerous accusations against the caller. He states he has been trying to ignore it but she is continueing to harass him. Caller states she takes a lot of meds according to his landlord. Caller also states this female has threatened to shoot his dog in the past. Deputy advised. Spoke with the reporting person who advised that the lady next door thinks he broke into her apartment in August of 2015, reporting person advised that she is about to get evicted and is not sure what to do. Reporting person advised female is mentally handicapped and is awaiting treatment. Advice given.
Feb. 24
3:38 p.m., Burton Windsor Road, Middlefield. Channel 3 News is on her property and taking pictures. The caller stated there was an incident at her residence and it was on the news last night. News crew has left the premises prior to deputies arrival, complainant has avised attorney to send letter to Channel 3 News.
JUVENILE PROBLEM
Feb. 20
8:54 p.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Report of an underage party at Cabin 17. Caller received a call from a parent of one of the juveniles that are supposed to be there stating their is no adult there. 5-7 young males with no adult according to a maintenance person that checked it. Unknown if they are drinking. Rangers are approximately two hours out. The juveniles appeared to be around 16 years of age. Caller states it’s possible one of the males is over 18 but caller would like it checked.
SUSPICIOUS
Feb. 21
10:32 p.m., Pekin Road, Newbury. Pick up truck pulled into neighbors driveway. Drive had trouble getting into the driveway and was walking around in front of the neighbors house with a flashlight. Caller advised that the neighbor lives alone and was concerned. Deputy advised. The female that lives here has no power. Her brother in law was checking the exterior with a flashlight.
Feb. 25
2:55 p.m., Taylor Wells Road, Claridon. White diesel truck drove down the road and someone in the truck threw a bottle with a rag in it. Deputy advised. Unable to locate the suspect vehicle. Complainant called back, wanted to speak with a deputy. Caller advised bottle exploded when tossed from suspicious vehicle. Extra patrol requested for the area.
THREATENING
Feb. 21
11:39 p.m., Main Market Road, Troy. Threats via Facebook from a male she claims to not know. Deputy advised. The complainant received messages from Facebook username VIQI MARWAT. The user sent the victim a message saying he was coming to this country to kill her and rape her if she didn’t send him nude photos. Deputy messaged him back saying the police were here. The person responded saying he didn’t care and to send nude photos. User appeared to be from a different country. Unknown if actual name. The victim stated she would block the user. If more problems arise, she will call back.
TRAFFIC HAZARD
Feb. 25
10:16 a.m., Bean Road, Munson. West of location near the drive to the Notre Dame Elementary, there is a lady parked on the road in a black Chevy Equinox. She just sits on the road and smokes cigarettes. I have seen her multiple days and she is right near the crest of the hill. Deputy unable to locate.
