The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office March 25 through March 31. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 376 calls during this seven-day period.
JUVENILE PROBLEM
March 31
7:59 p.m., Leader Lane, Hambden. Six male juveniles, aged 15- to 16-years-old, playing football and the football at times hits a car. Deputy spoke with the juveniles, advised them of the complaint. Complainant stated her vehicle wasn’t hit by a football. When arrived, no juveniles were playing football.
PROPERTY DAMAGE
March 26
9:25 a.m., Mayfield Road, Claridon. There are three kids currently egging trailers and cars. They were last seen headed towards 322 from Lot 37. Two wearing a black hoodie and one was wearing a white hoodie. One kid was a white male, unknown race of others. They were all males. Deputy spoke with the complainant. She said that about 15 minutes prior to our arrival, there was three juvenile males walking down the street throwing eggs at their trailer. Complainant said that her husband went after the juveniles but he could not locate them.
SUSPICIOUS
March 25
9:57 a.m., Claridon Troy Road, Claridon. 14-year-old son received an email through his cell phone yesterday and they wanted to Facetime. He didn’t Facetime. The person wouldn’t identify himself, and then texted and said “so you don’t think I’ll come and kill you.” Complainant wants to see a deputy.
March 25
9:54 p.m., Goredon Drive, Aquilla. Vacant house. Caller saw about 3-4 kids walk up the driveway and then go around back of the residence and he heard banging. He thinks they were trying to break in. They are leaving now. Deputy responded. Teens were gathering firewood and branches on the property of the vacant house. Checks ok.
March 26
4:16 p.m., Old State Road, Claridon. Caller says she thinks someone tried to gain access to their residence through the storm cellar door. The caller says it was definitely closed this morning but it is open now. Nothing is missing from the residence. Deputy spoke with the complainant. He advised that when he got home from work, he noticed the cellar door was open. Complainant said that he asked his wife, who was home all day, if she had opened the door and she said no. Complainant said that he checked the door into the basement at the bottom of the stairs and it had not been opened. Complainant also checked his out buildings and found nothing to be missing at this time. Complainant said that he does not know who opened the door, but he was sure it was closed this morning when he left for work. Complainant requested extra patrol on his residence for the weekend.
March 29
4:03 p.m., Trailwood Road, Huntsburg. The caller has received several notes in her mailbox. She does not know who they are from. Deputy arrived on scene and spoke with the complainant who advised she has received a few notes in her mailbox within the past month. I reviewed the notes and observed that it was mostly jibberish and none of it made any sense. The complainant suspected it was a lady in the neighborhood, but she did not know where she lived. It should be noted that these notes were not threatening in nature, but it appeared that whoever was responsible possibly has some mental health issues.
THEFT
March 25
4:01 p.m., Princeton road, Huntsburg. Male states that a circular saw, an air roofing gun, a battery charger and a kerosene heater were stolen out of his barn sometime in the last week. He would like to file a report for theft. No signs of forcible entry due to the barn not being locked.
March 30
7:35 p.m., Aquilla Road, Claridon. Caller states someone stole three weed eaters, a backpack, and a concrete saw. All of the items were stolen from the garage except for one of the weed eaters; it was stolen from the basement.
