The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office April 8 through April 14. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 313 calls during this seven-day period.
SUSPICIOUS
April 9
8:49 p.m., E. Center St., Burton. Female on the phone stating that one of the patients is being beaten up. Can hear someone screaming in the background over the phone. Caller did not want to stay on the phone. Deputy responded. Spoke with staff member, who advised that they take one of the resident’s hearing aids away for the night. She began to talk very loud. The caller thought she heard someone getting hit with papers. Everyone checked OK, no one was getting struck.
April 10
2:59 p.m., Mayfield Road, Huntsburg. Caller states he thinks he was scammed via Facebook. Caller did provide a copy of his driver’s license. Caller advised it was an online lottery that told him he won $500,000. Deputy advised. Complainant wanted incident documented.
EXTRA PATROL
April 12
5:01 p.m., Sperry Road, Newbury. Caller received a call from a male inquiring about their alarm system. Caller’s husband advised they did not have an alarm system. Caller advised the male then hung up. Caller states the male knew their names and phone number. When caller attempted to call the number back, it was out of service. Caller is requesting an extra patrol on their house.
