The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office May 15-21. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 376 calls during this seven-day period.
CITIZEN ASSIST
May 16
2:56 p.m., Claridon Troy Road, Claridon. Female walking down Claridon Troy toward the church on the corner. Female screaming. White Kia Soul stopped to pick her up and possibly ran over her foot and took off. White truck and Kia went southbound on Claridon Troy. Possible domestic. Caller yelled to the female that she was going to call 9-1-1 for her. Female said no, that was her husband.
May 18
1 a.m., Robinson Road, Chardon. Com-plaints regarding common pleas court. Believes the people involved in the case against him are telling lies. Complainant was given advice to retain an attorney. Also, the complainant will prepare a statement of facts pertaining to an investigation he wants started and bring it to the sheriff’s office.
DISORDERLY
May 21
10:04 a.m., GAR Highway, Hambden. Female resident just west of the above address is giving ODOT issues while they are cutting down trees. She admitted to being on opiates. Female is standing in their work zone and stating she owns the trees and they are not allowed to cut them down. They had an issue with the female last week. Sargeant spoke with female and provided advice. No further action was requested or needed.
DOMESTIC DISPUTE
May 16
12:25 a.m., Hillview Road, Newbury. Verbal dispute. Boyfriend will not let girlfriend into bedroom. Advised female to put golf club down. Money argument. There is another room she can go in, but she will wait for deputies. Male is acting strange, yelling out the bedroom window that caller is going to hurt him.
FISH & GAME
May 15
10:25 p.m., Valley Road, Auburn. Motor boat on LaDue. Johnson motor, open bass boat. Per park officials, it is OK for the motor to be on the boat as long as not in use. Motor was not being used.
HARASSMENT
May 18
10:47 a.m., Cloverdale Drive, Middlefield. Complainant stated her mother opened a credit card in complainant’s name. Bank is handling this investigation. Complainant wanted to report her mother is opening her personal mail after being asked not to do so. Complainant states mother is “curious to know how much I am making.” Complainant states her mother also is requesting her to drop the matter with the credit card company so the mother isn’t involved in an investigation with the bank. Information documented for the complainant.
May 19
11:19 a.m., Grey Friar Way, Munson. Ongoing phone harassment occuring between teenage daughter and another female juvenile. Complainant believes her child is being stalked and would to meet with a deputy. Deputy advised. 16-year-olds via social media. Deputty will contact other party to cease correspondence.
INTOXICATED PERSON
May 15
2:28 p.m., Old State Road, Claridon. Male was fired last week because he chronically came to work drunk. Now is in the foyer and refusing to leave. Male is falling over and was driving a white Ford Focus. Male is wearing all black and holding chains. Male is not making threats and is not saying anything. He is walking through the parking lot toward his vehicle. He was showing co-workers how he could wrap a chain around his hand and punch people. Male is in his vehicle in the parking lot. He lives off Nauvoo Road and his heading southbound. Concern is that he is drunk. He was leaning over the bar with the chain wrapped around his hand; was threatening to us.
JUVENILE PROBLEM
May 20
7:35 p.m., Linda Drive, Newbury. Caller’s son is being bullied by the neighbor boy across the street. Neighbor boy is 13 and caller’s son is 9. Males were physically fighting. Not going on at this time; caller has attempted to speak with the 13-year-old’s mother, but has not made contact.
MEDICAL
May 16
6:54 a.m., Tavern Road, Burton. 85-year-old female put Cortizone on her dentures accidentally, about a half an inch of cream on top. Mouth is somewhat burning.
Overdose
May 19
10:50 p.m., Rock Creek Road, Thompson. 30-year-old female possible heroin overdose and has been drinking. History of heroin use; unknown if using tonight. Patient is sitting up in bathroom, shallow breathing. Boyfriend heard her fall in bathroom; when he found her she was not conscious. She had a bottle of wine to drink tonight. Female was given narcan by FD and came to. She declined transport to hospital and requested no further assistance. Deputies did not observe any signs of drug activity in the apartment nor did patient admit to taking any. Will call back if any further issues arise.
POISONING
May 15
6:35 p.m., Hayes Road, Middlefield. One-and-a-half-year-old male swallowed Chlorox bleach, vomitting. Caller connected with poison control.
PROPERTY DAMAGE
May 15
10:39 a.m., Mayfield Road, Munson. Damage to the greens and tee-boxes during the evening and overnight hours over the last few days. Caller had problems with juveniles walking around and goofing off, and had been asked to leave. Most damage is occurring in the far north-end holes, 15-18, very near to a residence on Valley Vista where a group of kids lives. Caller thinks they might be responsible. Damage already has been repaired.
May 20
4:35 p.m., Washington Street, Auburn. Black Ford Ranger pickup pulled out of a gravel driveway and sprayed caller’s vehicle with gravel causing damage. Caller would like to file a report for the damage. Deputy advised.
SOLICITATION
May 15
9:17 a.m., Kinsman Road, Burton. Approximately 15 minutes ago a man driving a Jeep 4-door SUV green in color with a temporary tag stopped at the house trying to sell cleaning products. Heavy-set, late 40s-age male, wearing shorts, a dark sweater and a ball cap. Caller thought it was strange because they did not have any product labels or literature, but did refernce Carlton Mulch Company. Male left westbound in his vehicle. Nothing missing from building at this time. Complainant requests extra patrol.
THEFT
May 16
5:27 p.m., Cloverdale Drive, Middlefield. Meet the complainant at Middlefield PD. Complainant was parked at an unknown address on Cloverdale and his GPS was stolen from his vehicle. No forced entry into the vehicle. Call clear.
THREATENING
May 17
10:45 p.m., Tudor Place, Hambden. Neighbor threatened caller, said he was going to “kill the caller and his family.” This was over kids playing at the neighbor’s house and caller’s kid was sent to play with them, and he was told he was not permitted to play. Caller then went over and confronted the kids. The father of the kids that were playing then threatened the caller over the phone. Deputy advised.
Traffic Crash
May 15
6:27 a.m., Main Market Road, Parkman. Car vs. pedestrian. 40-year-old male. Either grey or lime green SUV fled, headed eastbound on 422. Conscious and breathing. Both legs and ribs broken. Car made left turn and struck pedestrian on left side. Parkman FD requests squad from Troy FD.
WATER RESCUE
May 16
9:17 p.m., U.S. 422, Auburn. Male called his wife and said canoe swamped and he is in middle of the lake. He is swimming from the middle of the lake. Unknown if he has life vest on. There is a transgender male with him. Wife does not know where they are parked. Male said he was swimming toward Route 44. Deputies assisted with searching the area for the boaters, who were located with Auburn FD. Both subjects and boats are back at the boathouse.
WEAPON OFFENSE
May 17
5:58 p.m., Fairmount Road, Newbury. Can hear gunshots from south side of Fairmount. Concerned about whether there is proper backstop. Caller would like to remain anonymous. Property owner was given advice on proper backstop and will correct the problem.
