The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriffs Office March 29 through April 4. In total, the sheriffs office handled 386 calls during this seven-day period.

Animal Problem

March 29

3:33 p.m., Sunset Drive, Auburn. Elderly female at location stating she has a squirrel in her house and needs assistance. Callers daughter said her husband already searched for squirrel, but could not find it. I located a couple of areas the squirrel may have entered through; the family will attempt to secure those areas.

2:32 p.m., Huntley Rod, Huntsburg. Cow walking down Huntley Road toward 528. Didnt see anyone around it. UTL.

Citizen Dispute

March 30

11:42 a.m., Linda Drive, Newbury. Post 1 lobby. Male reporting his stuff was thrown away after he was arrested for DV. Status, civil.

7:07 p.m., Swine Creek Road, Middlefield. Sap buckets stolen this afternoon around 3 p.m. Caller said he saw the thief and knows who it is. The buckets were removed by the property owner, who advised he took the buckets because they were on his property without permission. Owner gave me seven buckets; I returned them to caller and advised him to keep his sap buckets on his own property. All parties involved were given advice.

Fraud

March 29

3:58 p.m., Clark Road, Chardon. Identity theft. Someone used callers SSN to file tax return. Took report.

April 3

9:05 a.m., Ravenna Road, Newbury. Collection agency called stating we owe $16,000 to Macys. Report to follow.

Harassment

March 29

7:45 a.m., Stillwell Road, Huntsburg. Childs car was egged, profanity written on it and yard was Tped. Complainant requested it be documented, that their yard was toilet papered, along with three cars. On her childs car, smashed bananas, eggs and writing, which can be washed off. Caller believes it is related to an investigation at Chardon High School. No suspects, no ideas of who might have done this. Record only at this time. They will call if more information or leads are learned.

Suspicious

March 30

9:14 p.m., Madison Road, Huntsburg. Caller states someone is shooting at propane tanks in the area; caller wants to remain anonymous and is requesting a deputy check the area. Sat stationary on 528 north of Chardon Windsor and heard nothing. UTL.

April 2

10:29 a.m., Bass Lake Road, Munson. On post for report. Greeting card was placed in mailbox.

April 1

10:20 p.m., Taylor Wells Road, Claridon. Two separate residents reporting a low-flying helicopter with a spotlight flying over houses. UTL/GOA.

April 4

9:16 a.m., Crestridge Drive, Chardon. Caller advised he has a treadmill for sale on craigslist. He got a buyer; he is sending a check for $3,100 but the sale amount is really $1,300. They want caller to cash the check and send the rest back. This is possible scam to get the cash. Advice given. Male is not out any money and will destroy the check when it arrives.

Theft

April 1

7:10 p.m., Swine Creek Road, Middlefield. Theft of sap buckets, again.

11:25 p.m., Clarkwood Drive, Chardon. Flagpole was taken. Black SUV was seen leaving the area. Callers boyfriend has the license number.

Threatening

April 2

5:18 p.m., Clay Street, Huntsburg. Female at Middlefield PD. Her daughter received information on Facebook that person has threatened to damage her vehicle. Caller has to stay in town due to events at Cardinal High School and asked if a deputy could respond to Middlefield station.

April 3

5:48 a.m., Cardinal Drive, Troy. Male caller has received six calls in the past 20 minutes from an unknown male that keeps warning him that someone wants him dead. Caller ID shows unknown number. Deputy advised call for the south zone.
