The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Jan. 31 through Feb. 6. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 320 calls during this seven-day period.

Agency Assist

Feb. 6
10:19 a.m., Daniel Lane, Hambden. Truant officer requested to meet at above to transport female to Hambden Elementary. Met with truant officer who briefed deputy on situation involving teenage female who is not going to school. Deputy went to residence, took custody of female and transported her to school.

Burglary

Feb. 1
9:50 p.m., Woodin Road, Hambden. Arrived home to find maroon Ford 4-door sedan parked behind the barn and believes they may have interrupted someone breaking into the house. Subjects entered the house through a basement door while the caller’s children and babysitter were upstairs. Caller’s husband took off following the vehicle. Family found two hats in basement, a black stocking hat and a baseball hat. Family directed not to touch anything else in house.

Citizen Assist

Feb. 1
6:02 p.m., Mayfield Road, Claridon. Caller states her dog got underneath her trailer. Caller has tried to get the dog out, but is unable to get her out of there. Caller is elderly and requests assistance. Nothing can be done; unable to provide assistance. She has treats down to lure the dog out.

Citizen Dispute

Jan. 31
1:19 p.m., Holi Dale Drive, Hambden. Ex-boyfriend took money out of my account when we were together. He paid some back but he still owes me $800. We broke up and he moved out of state and hasn’t paid me back. Complainant would like a phone call. Civil matter. Sent complainant to small claims.

Fraud

Feb. 4
5:13 p.m., Old State Rod, Claridon. Bank of America called advising someone attempted to open an account using the caller’s information. BoA suggested a police report. Deputy advised. Caller advised to contact credit bureaus regarding the matter. IR number provided.

Intoxicated Person

Feb. 3
2:36 a.m., Valley View Drive, Chester. Male is intoxicated and was argumentative with caller. Male was asked to leave and won’t. Male cut himself with a knife and is going to cut his tires. Caller’s son and male are fighting. Male is still trying to get the caller’s son to fight him. Report taken.

Juvenile Problem

Feb. 1
12:34 p.m., Venus Road, Hambden. Teenager I have guardianship of is not following the rules. He was suspended from school. He won’t clean the kitchen like I told him. I want him to go. I have one other child here. He is not violent right now. He has been here since September. He is on probation with Cuyahoga County and I tried to call his probation officer but did not get an answer. He is aware the police are coming. Provided advice to complainant as well as to juvenile, who was receptive to advice and stated he would obey rules of household in order to regain privileges at home.

Road Rage

Feb. 6
5:05 p.m., Aquilla Road, Claridon. Male was being tailgated. He stopped his vehicle and male subject got out of his car and pepper sprayed him. Other party is gone now.

Suspicious

Feb. 6
3:48 a.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Large amount of smoke from the landscape company Green Vision Materials. Small mulch fire in the bulk mulch yard. Employee on scene and will use a dozer to handle the issue.

6:41 p.m., Mayfield Road, Munson. Received a package in the mail today with a broken watch and an index card with “Time” written on it. Unknown who the package was from. Complainant is on his way home. Package is from Lansing, Mich. Advice given. Also requesting property watch.

Theft

Feb. 6
8:14 a.m., Kinsman Road, Burton. Someone dug a big bush up and took it from front of building. This occurred Feb. 5.Boxwood bush removed from front of property by unknown means. No suspects in the matter. Incident created for documentation and suspicious nature purposes only. Extra patrol requested in overnight hours.
