The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriffs Office Dec. 7-13. In total, the sheriffs office handled 292 calls during this seven-day period.
911 Problem
Dec. 8
4:12 p.m. Linda Drive, Newbury. Juvenile male called 911 stating his mother went to lunch and she told him to call if she did not return home. Juvenile said his mother went out for lunch with a friend she met through Facebook. She had her son write down the males license plate. His mother has not returned in several hours. Juvenile then said his mother called him back and said she was on way home and everything was OK. Juvenile still sounded concerned so he was told a deputy would stop by to make sure everything was OK. Mother called into sheriffs dispatch and spoke with deputy who also stopped at residence and spoke with son. They will work on a new plan next time.
Animal Problem
Dec. 9
10:58 a.m., Auburn Road, Chardon. Reported goats in the road south of Clark. Goats in road; chased back into field and gate secured.
Drugs/Alcohol
Dec. 12
2:51 p.m., Sperry Road, Newbury. Male has been drinking at least three bottles of whiskey on the table. Caller is the sister. She checked on him four days ago and he looked bad. He told her he would go to hospital today. He does not like to go to hospital. She thinks it will be OK since he said he would go. Male is conscious.
Harassment
Dec. 8
6:20 p.m., Ravenna Road, Munson. Female in the lobby to file a harassment report. Her 16-year-old daughter has been harassed for months. She previously has made a couple reports and nothing is making it stop. Deputy advised.
Juvenile Problem
Dec. 8
4:05 a.m., Pekin Road, Newbury. Male is acting out; he is naked. He is about 25. He is assaulting. He is in the house, wrecking it. No weapons.
Missing Person
Dec. 12
3:58 p.m., Leader Road, Hambden. Caller wants to see an officer regarding his missing 17-year-old brother. He left the residence around 4 p.m. yesterday and has not been heard from since. He was last seen wearing a yellow and black Pittsburgh Steelers jacket, blue jeans and a black Pittsburgh Steelers T-shirt. Report taken. According to Chardon PD: 10 minutes ago a driver flagged down an officer stating at 8:30 p.m. there was a young male dressed in all black walking down South Hambden Street at Huntington Street. Chardon PD checked; UTL/GOA on any juveniles.
Suspicious
Dec. 7
3:07 a.m., Ravenna Road, Newbury. Suspicious vehicle at Luckys. Female owner has multiple warrants from the Tennessee area. She has previous alerts for burglary, drugs, kidnapping, resisting arrest, escape. Run name for further. Vehicle appears to have been parked here for the past few hours.
Dec. 8
10:54 p.m., Wood Acre Trail, Auburn. Someone between the hours of 6:45 p.m. and 10:45 p.m. has draped a deer carcass over their mailbox. Caller would like to file a report. Caller said carcass has been gutted. Assisted caller with removing the deer from mailbox. Unknown who did it. Advice given.
Dec. 9
8:03 a.m., Pekin Road, Newbury. Paid to have the property marked off and this morning some of the markers are missing. Caller returned home to find survey stakes pulled out of ground. Caller believes neighbor to his east is responsible; however, caller did not witness neighbor remove stakes. Caller wanted incident documented for future.
Dec. 10
12:56 p.m., Pinehurst Drive, Munson. Caller found a can of soup on her front porch. Sealed can of soup by front door. Caller was sick but does not know who left it. Requested it be thrown away. Removed and disposed of.
Traffic Hazards
Dec. 7
12:15 p.m., Mayfield Road, Claridon. Received a call that the beavers have chewed on a tree near the road and the tree is going to fall across the road. Wasnt sure how to get ahold of the county road department to report it. Dispatch advised caller Route 322 is a state road and ODOT would be advised.
Warrant Service
Dec. 7
4:32 p.m., Pekin Road, Newbury. Female just ran into the house. She has a warrant. Arrested female who upon seeing deputy fled on foot into residence. Female was aware she had outstanding warrants. Deputies entered location and took suspect into custody without incident.
Weapons Offense
Dec. 7
4 p.m., Ford Lane, Burton. Group of juveniles was walking from Burton Elementary to Ford Lane Apartments. They told their grandfather they witnessed a male, approximately 46 years old, wearing an orange sweatshirt and he was swinging a gun around. Believed to be a black handgun. Male with brown hair and beard. He was standing in the parking lot of the apartments by the school. Location verified with caller. Juvenile/parent advised.
