Two Arrested for Heroin in Munson

A Newbury Township man and a Concord Township man were arrested and charged with possession of heroin Tuesday after someone called the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office regarding suspicious activity.

The caller thought a possible drug deal had just happened at St. Luke’s Church, 11519 Wilson Mills Road in Munson Township and said the suspects — Dain C. Oliver, 24, of Newbury, and Adam Palumbo, 24, of Concord — were still in the parking lot, officials said.

Sheriff’s deputies and Chardon police officers arrived in the area and observed both men sitting in a vehicle, the sheriff’s office said, adding Oliver and Palumbo reportedly attempted to conceal heroin and needles as the law enforcement officers approached.

They were both subsequently arrested for possession of heroin, a fifth-degree felony.

Both men denied selling heroin and stated they were at the church to pick a friend up that was attending an AA meeting, officials said.

Oliver and Palumbo will be arraigned today in Chardon Municipal Court.

Chardon Band on ‘Polka Kings’ Premier

The Chardon Polka Band will be featured on the premiere of the reality TV series “Polka Kings,” April 11 on the REELZ channel.

The show follows the five Chardon Polka Band members — Paul Coates “The Weird One” on sousaphone and bass; Jake Kouwe “The Ego” front man on accordion and vocals; Emily Burke “The Legs” on saxophone and flute; Pops Magooch “The Curmudgeon” on drums; and Mike Franklin “The Ladies Man” on banjo, bass, backup vocals and yodeler — as they try to survive each other and keep their personal and professional troubles from derailing their quest for stardom.

“Polka Kings” brings a fully relatable story of the American spirit through the experiences of a band that’s as close as family and absolutely determined to achieve their dreams, according to a statement from Reelz.

The band finds themselves in crazy situations, including private parties in nursing homes, Ukrainian summer camps and the Avon Heritage Duct Tape Festival.

Each week, “Polka Kings” will follow the dynamic group’s attempts to achieve mainstream status and their ultimate goal of headlining their dream event: Oktoberfest in Germany.

One episode even features Duji, the co-host from Cleveland’s syndicated radio talk show Rover’s Morning Glory judging a battle of the bands competition.
