6th-Graders Visit Art Museum

After a great deal of background information through social studies and art classes, sixth-grade students at Cardinal Middle School traveled to University Circle to experience art first hand. From Monet’s “Water Lilies” to Andy Warhol’s “Marilyn,” more than 100 students got a glimpse of the many different techniques artists have to offer, both modern and classic.

Students enjoyed the Collections Wall, which is an interactive exhibit using touch screens, as well as the Focus Gallery, which displays featured artwork. As part of their visit, teachers and students used the ARTLENS app for iPad to learn about the artwork and find their way around.

Students shared their favorites, among them the painting of Ann Frank, the Renaissance painters, the Impressionists, and of course, the armor room. Students admired the artwork with enthusiasm and respect. It was an exciting opportunity that they thoroughly enjoyed.

Transportation was provided by the Cardinal Middle School PSTA. Thanks, PTSA.
