DS Cakes Hosts Berkshire Students
On Dec. 5 the Berkshire Cake Decorating Club got a class A tour of DS Cakes and Sweet Café in Newbury Township. Students observed the baking process in action and got a behind-the-scenes look at the business operation.
Owner Diane Schneider has operated the very successful bakery for several years, and she gladly accepted the request to host the field trip. She was ready and willing to support the goal of the club, which is to help young people find their passion and discover new interests and activities.
Alisha Faudie, from OSU Extension, is the club’s instructor, and Jennie Canganelli, from ESC of Northeast Ohio, coordinates as part of Berkshire’s community engagement initiative.
Community members and organizations have become an integral part of wellness, community connection and personal development activities over the last few years at Berkshire, offering such things as self-defense classes, volunteer opportunities and wellness practices.
