6th-Graders Leave Their Mark

A new tradition is underway at Cardinal Middle School. Starting with this year, the outgoing sixth-grade class will have a special place on the gym wall where the students and teachers can sign their names. The murals mark a sort of “rite of passage” as students move on from sixth grade to more rigorous academic and athletic opportunities in seventh grade and beyond.

Students were so excited to establish and be part of something new. The middle school cannot wait to fill the gym wall with this tradition for years and years to come.

Class Wins GPD Poster Contest

Mrs. Simms’ second-grade class was named the first winner of the Geauga Park District’s poster contest. The park district has posters up at various parks and businesses throughout the area and all one has to do to enter the contest is take a picture with one of the posters and submit it to the park district.

Students in Mrs. Simms’ class spotted a poster on their Habitats Hide and Seek field trip at Swinecreek, so they took a picture and submitted it into the contest. The class has won a $20 gift certificate to the Nature Store.
