Cardinal Represented in All Star Baseball Game
Recent Cardinal graduate K.C. Cress represented Cardinal in the Northeast Ohio Baseball Coaches Association All-Star game on June 24 at Canal Stadium in Akron. Teams were comprised of players from Ashland, Ashtabula, Columbiana, Cuyahoga, Lake, Lorain, Mahoning, Portage, Stark, Summit, Trumbull and Wayne counties. Cress has also been named to the NEOBCA’s Division III, First-Team All State.
At Cardinal, Cress was a four-year varsity letter winner and captain of the baseball team. Cress will continue his baseball career at Walsh University (Division II) this fall.
Hall of Fame Inductees
The Cardinal School District is proud to announce the Athletic and Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame Inductees for 2015. Honorees include a presidential appointee, brigade commander and Olympic trial qualifier.
The Athletic Hall of Fame recognizes individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to the Cardinal Athletic Program as an athlete, coach, administrator or community member.
The Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame honors individuals who have been recognized for a high level of achievement in his or her field, has made significant contributions to his or her field, and who has demonstrated character, leadership and service in a variety of venues, from his or her field of expertise to the local, state or national community.
The 2015 Athletic Hall of Fame inductees are: Matt Dulka, Cara Edwards, Nick Marcu, Tom Moss, Tom Neikirk and Scott Shipman.
The 2015 Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame inductees are: Cara Edwards, Mark Giardina, David Lucht, Tom Moss and H. John Visser.
Ms. Edwards and Mr. Moss are being inducted into both halls of fame.
The Hall of Fame Class of 2015 will be inducted the weekend of Sept. 18 and 19. The inductees will be recognized before the home football game versus Independence on Sept. 18. The formal induction will take place at a formal banquet at Bistro 608 on Sept. 19.

The purpose of the Cardinal Hall of Fame is to increase awareness and pride in Cardinal athletics, to recognize individuals who have brought pride and accomplishment to our community and to provide role models for today’s students. We will honor and preserve the legacy of those who have excelled in the past, and we hope to inspire our youth to achieve excellence in the future.
Open Enrollment Continues
Cardinal Schools is accepting open enrollment applications for the 2015-16 school year until Aug. 1. Open enrollment is for students who live outside of the district and do not currently attend Cardinal schools.
Open enrollment acceptance is based on class sizes and is granted on a first-come, first-served basis.
Applications are available in the board office, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
