CMS Students Set Up Lockers
Cardinal Middle School was abuzz with excitement on Aug. 19 as parents and students filled the hallways for locker setup. Students were invited to come into the building to get their locker assignment, practice opening their locker and set up their space so it’s all ready to go for the first day of school Aug. 25. Students also had the opportunity to see where their classrooms will be for the upcoming school year.
“I’m excited for the new year to start,” said eighth-grader Emma T. “I wanted to come here today because I like to be organized. I like bright, fun spaces, so this will be fun to come to on the first day.”
Incoming fifth-grader Sabrina C. was organizing all of her pencils and thankful for the time to set up before classes start.
She says, “I’m most excited for science class; hopefully, we’ll get to do some fun experiments.”
CHS Open House
Cardinal High School will host an open house Aug. 28 from 5-6 p.m.
Principal Jeremy Hunter says, “We are excited to share all of the new improvements with students, parents and the community. We hope people will join us here in the building and then show their HUSKIE PRIDE at the home football game starting at 7 p.m. It’s an exciting time to be a Cardinal Huskie.”
New Phone System
The Cardinal Local School District has activated a new, menu-based phone system. The new system will help to route calls more effectively and efficiently.
The school district appreciates everyone’s patience and understanding as this new change takes place.
UDL Training Held
Cardinal staff members participated in the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) training on Aug. 13. UDL is a set of principles for curriculum develop-ment that give all individuals equal opportunities to learn.
Superintendent Scott J. Hunt says, “This training is critical to support our proactive approach to ensure that all students achieve and progress through-out the year.”
CHS Holds iPad Deployment
Technology is fast becoming the classroom’s new pencil and this year students at Cardinal High School will be at the forefront of the learning curve. Every student in grades 9-12 will receive an iPad mini for use during the school year.
The devices are being provided to students as part of the district’s participation in a Straight A Grant and were distributed Aug. 18 and 20.
Assistant Principal Sherry Peters says, “The iPads will be a great learning tool that will allow students to create, collaborate, communicate and engage in critical thinking activities.”
