Kindergarten Orientation
The Cardinal School District welcomed the class of 2028 on Aug. 21. Students entering kindergarten this school year attended a special orientation at Jordak Elementary School and then participated in a scavenger hunt throughout the building. The hunt was designed to help students find their classrooms and other areas in school, like the library, gymnasium and restrooms that they’ll be going to throughout the year.
“It’s always so exciting to meet the new students every year,” says kindergarten teacher Courtney Dyer. “Orientation is an excellent way to allow students and their parents to get comfortable with the building, the classroom and us, as teachers. We have a lot of fun things planned for students this year; we’re excited to get started!”
Mrs. Dyer’s class starts school Sept. 8 along with the girls only in the other kindergarten classes. Kindergarten boys only (and Mrs. Dyer’s class) will report on Sept. 9, with all kindergartners, boys and girls, reporting to class on Sept. 10.
Opening Day Convocation
All Cardinal staff members reunited on Aug. 24 to kick off the upcoming school year. Staff members attended a convocation led by Superintendent Scott J. Hunt, where they were introduced to new staff members, updated on changes for the upcoming school year and informed of technology upgrades throughout the district.
“It’s exciting to be back and see all of the familiar faces,” says Sue Hickox, middle school secretary. “We have an awesome group of people in the district. It’s going to be a great year!”
