3rd Quarter Academic Rally
Third- and fourth-graders at Cardinal Intermediate School have once again been recognized for their accomplishments academically and behaviorally in and out of the classroom. On April 7, students attended a special assembly in the gym to receive recognition in a whole host of categories including: straight A’s, honor roll, merit roll, improvement roll, related arts, Huskie pride, Accelerated Reader and Kiwanis outstanding citizen. Keep up the great work in the final quarter.
Breakfast for Outstanding Work
Eighth-grade science students were treated to a special breakfast from teacher David Bronson last week. He says these students did an exceptional job on their case studies and wanted to reward them all for their hard work.
The case studies highlighted a variety of topics, including lineage, fossil record and extinction. Students studied the red panda, snow leopard, tuatara and the rarely seen aye-aye.
VFW Patriot’s Pen Winners
Eighth-graders Emma T., Rachael L., Hanna S. and Mya R. won first through fourth place, respectively, in the Middlefield VFW Post 9678 Patriot’s Pen essay contest. This contest encourages young minds to examine America’s history, along with their own experiences in modern American society by drafting a 300 to 400 word essay, expressing their views based on a patriotic theme.
This year’s theme was “What Freedom Means to Me.” Along with their awards, each student also received a small monetary scholarship. Congratulations, ladies.
