Center Stage Cast Announced

Kenston High School Center Stage announced the cast list for its fall production, “Acts of God.” The play tracks 12 high school students through the year following a devastating tornado strike. As the students grieve, assist in the recovery efforts and tackle the basics of getting on with life, they must also cope with the storm’s emotional detritus.

The cast includes: Claire Abourjeily, Hannah Amick, Johnny Coming, Jacob Enders, Cassie Holub, Kris Kazimir, John Licata, Maggie Lowman, Will McKnight, Sarah Porter, Hannah Ramadan and Eric Ryan.

Mark the calendar for the fall performances on Nov. 15 and 16 at 7 p.m.

Rotary Senior

Mackenzie Morehouse has been selected Kenston’s Chagrin Valley Rotary Club Student of the Month. She maintains a 4.2 GPA and has received an academic letter for her awards in AP Spanish, Algebra II/Trigonometry, Science and The Results of Hatred: The Holocast and Beyond.

Mackenzie is a four-year member of the cross country team. She volunteers for the Huddle Connection, an exercise program for girls with special needs, at Hamlet Village and with elementary special education students.

She plans to get a liberal arts degree at St. Bonaventure University, Denison University or the College of Wooster.

National Merit

Six Kenston High School students have been recognized by the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program. This distinction signifies these students as part of a select group of high school seniors in the country. The National Merit Program honors individual students who show exceptional academic ability and potential for success in rigorous college studies.

Commended students are Alexandra Belfi, Scott Brown, Paul Palumbo and Joshua Sellers. Jacob Enders and Eric Poe were named semifinalists.

Boys Soccer Food Collection

The boys soccer team will be collecting food for the Bainbridge Food for Friend’s in Lake-in-the-Woods and Tanglewood on Sept. 28 from 10 a.m. to noon. Place donations on the front porch; the team will be going door-to-door.

Currently, a need for items at the local food pantry includes: canned fruit, bar soap, evaporated milk, Jell-O, cranberry sauce, rice, saltine crackers, mayonnaise, salad dressing, jam and jelly, applesauce, peanut butter, mustard, catsup, tomato sauce, pancake mix, pancake syrup, soup, canned tuna, Tuna Helper, cake mix, packaged cookies, canned chicken, Chicken Helper, chicken and beef broth, canned yams, oatmeal, cereal, spaghetti sauce, spaghetti, canned beans, canned carrots, canned beets, toothpaste, shampoo, paper products and dish soap.
