Tigers Take Top Prize

For the second year running, Chagrin Falls High School has claimed victory in the Sora School Stars Global Marketing Content competition, with three seniors earning the “Best Student-Made Submission” award for their innovative tribute to digital reading.

Seniors Theo Hawk, Lena Tucker and Andrew Strawn collaborated with marketing class instructor John Bakalar and library media specialist Angie Jameson to create “One Book,” a clever remake of Ray-J’s hit song “One Wish” that celebrates the impact of Sora’s digital library platform on student learning.

The winning submission earned the school $500 in Sora Content Credit, which will directly benefit Chagrin Falls students in grades 7-12 by expanding access to digital library resources. The global competition challenged students worldwide to showcase “Sora’s impact on your students” through creative mediums, welcoming everything from videos and presentations to original songs.

Students of the Month

Chagrin Falls Middle School has announced its Students of the Month for May, recognizing four exceptional students who exemplify the school’s core “Tiger Techniques” values of Think, Integrity, Grit, Effort and Responsibility. Each month, the seventh- and eighth-grade teams collaborate and choose a male and female “Tiger of the Month” and the students receive tiger water bottles from the PTO.

They are seventh-graders Mirabelle Kwok and Lucas Albuquerque, and eighth-graders Hannah Neumann and Brandon Haas.
Mirabelle Kwok is a leader both inside and outside of the classroom. She is an amazing violinist in the seventh-grade orchestra and in the Cleveland Contemporary Youth Orchestra. Lucas can be counted on to do the “right” thing without being asked. He is willing to jump in and help his classmates and teachers. Lucas is a positive person and quietly leads by example. He is consistently polite and respectful. He is always excited to learn something new and is a willing participant in class. His reflection on content, when shared with the class, is tremendously valuable.

Hannah Neumann is a kind, respectful, and responsible student. She always strives to do her best.  Hannah’s analysis skills help her solve problems elegantly. She’s a quiet leader who helps classmates know what is due when, helps them study, and consistently is a high achiever.  All students are happy to be her partner in class. She is also helpful to staff.
Brandon Haas is a dedicated, smart and hardworking student. He is thoughtful and accepting of feedback from his teachers. He always comes to class with a smile on his face and is ready to learn.
