National Merit Recognition

Chagrin Falls High School seniors Elias Havas, Claire Hoelzel, Ethan Johnson and Audrey Solvesky have been recognized as commended scholars in the National Merit Scholarship Program.

The commended scholar designation is awarded to students whose outstanding performance on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test places them among the top scorers nationwide. Fewer than 3.5 percent of the more than 1.3 million students who take the test each year achieve this distinction.

“This recognition reflects the exceptional effort and academic dedication of our students,” said Amanda Rassi, principal of Chagrin Falls High School. “Elias, Ethan, Audrey and Claire exemplify the qualities of scholarship, curiosity and perseverance that we encourage and celebrate at Chagrin Falls.”

The National Merit Scholarship Program, established in 1955, honors the nation’s top academic performers and encourages the pursuit of educational excellence. Students recognized as Commended Scholars may become eligible for a wide range of scholarship opportunities as they continue their academic journeys.

Chagrin Falls Schools congratulates Elias, Ethan, Audrey and Claire on this notable achievement and looks forward to supporting their future success.

Tigers of the Month

Chagrin Falls Middle School celebrated four exceptional students in September as part of its monthly recognition program that highlights students who exemplify the school’s Tiger Techniques: Think, Integrity, Grit, Effort and Responsibility. September honorees represent the best of what it means to be a Tiger, with each student demonstrating remarkable leadership both in and out of the classroom. Each student receives tiger water bottles from the PTO.

The honored students are eighth-graders Wrenn Warren and Carson Exline and seventh-graders Claire Beatty and Jack Thomspon

Warren has distinguished herself as a beacon of positivity and dedication. Known for her constant smile and inclusive nature, Warren ensures every peer feels welcomed and valued. Her teachers praise her eagerness to participate in class discussions and her unwavering commitment to excellence in all endeavors.

Warren’s leadership extends beyond academics to the cross country team, where she approaches every practice with enthusiasm and determination. Even on challenging days when facing a grueling two-mile run, she maintains her positive attitude while supporting and encouraging her teammates to push through their own obstacles.

Exline is a student who embodies critical thinking and exemplary work ethic. His polite demeanor with both teachers and peers has made him a respected figure in the classroom, where he leads through active participation and thoughtful discussions.

Perhaps most impressive is Exline’s transformation as a cross country runner. After not participating in the sport during seventh grade, he joined the team as an eighth grader and immediately emerged as a true leader. His serious approach to practice, relentless pursuit of improved times, and positive example for teammates have made him an outstanding addition to the cross country program this season.

Beatty brings infectious enthusiasm to her learning experience, creating a positive ripple effect throughout her classes. Her love for education extends to her willingness to help classmates during group activities and her consistent effort to seek help when needed. In science class particularly, Beatty stands out for asking thoughtful and curious questions daily, showing genuine engagement with the material.

Her leadership skills shine both inside and outside the classroom, making her a natural role model for peers who witness her commitment to doing her best in every situation.

Thompson has an above-and-beyond approach to everything he tackles. His dependable positive attitude and consistent kindness toward peers have made him a valued member of the seventh-grade community.

Thompson’s academic approach is marked by persistence and determination when facing challenging problems. His active participation in class discussions and his ability to stay engaged with material while setting a positive example for classmates demonstrate the leadership qualities that make him stand out.
