Chagrin Falls Exempted Village Schools will replace the turf at Harris Stadium in November, giving the field a fresh start after 11 years of use. The project will begin after the conclusion of the football and soccer seasons and is scheduled to be completed before spring sports begin.
The winter work schedule allows the district to move forward without interrupting athletic programs that rely on the field during the spring, summer and fall. During parts of the project, community access to the track may be limited. Once complete, the field will include inlaid markings for football, soccer, and both men’s and women’s lacrosse, ensuring that all high school field sports are ready to play when spring arrives.
The new turf system features a dual-fiber design which combines durable slit‐film and monofilament fibers to help maintain a consistent playing surface, better infill stability and uniform traction to support safer play.
The board of education approved the project in May 2025, authorizing a contract with FieldTurf USA Inc. FieldTurf is a well-regarded industry leader, with extensive experience in projects for professional, collegiate and high school athletic programs, including the Cincinnati Bengals, Oregon University, The Ohio State University and several local high schools including Orange, Solon and Hudson.
The Harris Stadium turf replacement demonstrates the district’s approach to maintaining safe, well-used facilities that serve both students and the community. Proactive maintenance keeps these shared spaces ready for the practices, games, and gatherings that bring Chagrin Falls together.
Alumnae Return to Inspire Next Generation of Artists
Two Chagrin Falls High School graduates returned to their alma mater recently to share how their high school art experiences launched successful creative careers. The alumnae presented to advanced 2D art classes, offering students a glimpse into how artistic passion can translate into fulfilling professional paths.
Catie Beg, a 2018 graduate, is now a fashion merchandiser at Abercrombie and Fitch for its women’s athleisure line. She shared her journey from creating her AP 2D fashion portfolio “Pakistani Pop” at Chagrin to her current role in the fashion industry. Catie walked students through her high school portfolio and explained the day-to-day realities of working in fashion merchandising, demonstrating how her artistic foundation prepared her for success in the competitive fashion world.
Christey Mader Burdett, a 2015 graduate, discussed her evolution from graphic designer to entrepreneur. She now runs a thriving wedding stationery watercolor business, Christey Mader Studio, which she promotes through Instagram cmaderstudio and her website at cmaderstudio.com. Christey candidly shared the process of starting her business part-time while maintaining other work, eventually building it into a full-time venture. Her business works with clients to design custom stationery and invitations for weddings, drawing from her background in both painting and graphic design.
“Having our alumnae come back and share their stories is incredibly valuable for our current students,” said art teacher Jill Eisert. “It shows them that the skills and creativity they’re developing here can lead to diverse and exciting career paths. Seeing successful professionals who sat in these same classrooms just a few years ago makes their own futures feel more tangible and achievable.”
Both presenters emphasized how their experiences in Chagrin’s art program over the past decade provided them with technical skills, creative confidence, and a foundation that continues to serve them in their professional lives. Their visits reminded current students that artistic talent combined with dedication can open doors to careers they’re passionate about.
The presentations were part of an ongoing effort to connect Chagrin Falls High School art students with real-world applications of their craft and to inspire them as they develop their own artistic portfolios and career aspirations.
