Gill Selected to Serve as English/Language Arts Coach
Katie Gill has been selected to serve as the English/language arts coach for Chagrin Falls Schools.
Gill has been a classroom teacher for more than 20 years. During this time, she has co-taught all subjects in a combined third- and fourth-grade classroom, taught all content areas in self-contained fourth-grade inclusion classrooms and taught English/language arts in fifth-grade for more than 17 years. She recently completed her K-12 gifted intervention specialist endorsement through the district’s grant-funded cohort. Katie currently teaches both Advanced ELA 5 and ELA.
Gill has an undergraduate degree in English and holds a masters in education with a grades 1-8 teaching certification. She has attended writing programs at both Bennington College in Vermont and The University of Iowa. Gill is published in a writing anthology used by seventh-, eighth- and ninth-graders in Canada, China and India. Katie has also tutored many ELA students in grades 7-12.
Gill said, ““The position of a literacy coach weaves together all of my interests with my number one passion, a love of teaching. I also believe that this opportunity will challenge me and help me grow further as a professional.”
OSBA Business Honor Roll
At the Chagrin Falls Board of Education meeting on June 3, three organizations were recognized with the Ohio School Boards Association (OSBA) “Business Honor Roll” award for their partnership with the Chagrin Falls Schools.
Chagrin Hardware
Chagrin Hardware provides the district a discount on purchasing hardware and materials and regularly donates to causes through our support organizations. The owners and sales associates are alumni of the district. Chagrin Hardware has worked with our high school students over the years in cooperation with business classes and student teams to develop marketing and window displays in the store front. Chagrin Hardware is a long-standing local business that understands and reflects the local community.
Einstein Bagels
Einstein Bagels provides bagels and coffee donations, including all of the condiments and supplies needed for after prom volunteers and donates gift cards for prizes for the students. They are proud of their connection to and participation in the event. They also provide several donations to the district’s support organizations for their events.
Heinen’s
The district receives thousands of dollars each year from Heinen’s donated through the Teaming up for Education program organized by the PTO. Additionally, Heinen’s has installed a bulletin board in the entrance of the Chagrin Falls Plaza store dedicated to Chagrin Falls Schools. This allows the district, our many support organizations and various other school groups to advertise and serves as another way to communicate to the community. Additionally, they allow us to utilize the meeting room in the store for the Cafe Time with the superintendent series during which the community is invited to an informal conversation with the superintendent.
