CFHS Student Earns Gold Award
Sydney Zimcosky, student at Chagrin Falls High School, earned her Girl Scout Gold Award last fall for completing a project that helped to make a difference in the community.
The Girl Scout Gold Award is described on the national Girl Scout website as an honor that is given to Girl Scouts who tackle issues that they are passionate about and drive lasting change in their communities. The award is a high honor that opens doors for recipients in terms of scholarships, college admission and career opportunities.
Sydney’s project was creating a pathway and benches in the Metroparks that led to the Chagrin River. She completed the project to address the issue of mental health among people with anxiety and depression.
By adding a pathway for people to access and enjoy nature, those who suffer from these issues could reap the benefits of being in the environment. Sydney put in over a year’s worth of work into making sure the project reached completion.
