Looking for Difference Makers
Every day, Chagrin Falls Schools’ staff, students, parents and community members do extraordinary things for other people. The district encourages individuals in the community to take five minutes to nominate a “Difference Maker.” These individuals often do not get the recognition they deserve.
Nominees will be invited to a difference maker breakfast where the district will provide them with a certificate as well as the description within the nomination. The district will also select one “Difference Maker of the Year.”
Nominate at the following link: http://tiny url.com/CF-difference-maker-2015.
Common Scholarship Application
The Chagrin Falls Alumni Association, Chagrin Falls Boosters Club & EnvisionEight have created a common scholarship application for seniors. The application can be found at http://chagrinalumni.org/scholarship. It is completed through Google Docs.
After the senior does the main application, which asks for general information, one will need to complete the essay questions for the respective organizations. One can apply to one, two or all of the organizations. An applicant can win scholarships from more than one of the organizations. Applications are due by Feb. 20.
Once the application is turned in, the Alumni Association, Boosters Club and EnvisionEight will screen the applications and select candidates for an interview. The CFAA, Boosters and EnvisionEight will hold their interviews March 14. Boosters will interview all applicants while the Alumni Association and EnvisionEight will notify which applicants they wish to interview.
Applicants, please make sure to place the interview date in one’s calendar now. Each group encourages all seniors to apply for their scholarship(s).
If there is any issue/concern, please contact Mr. McKenna at brian.mckenna@chagrinschools.org.
CFMS Raises Funds For Charity
Chagrin Falls Middle School Student Council recently wrapped up a schoolwide fundraiser for the nonprofit organization Charity: Water.
Charity: Water seeks to bring clean drinking water to every person on the planet by helping to build wells in developing countries.
Students at CFMS helped raise over $1,500 to contribute to a well building project. As the project is launched, Charity: Water will send a report as to how our money is helping a specific area of the world gain access to clean water. The top donating homerooms competed in a volleyball tournament that concluded on Dec. 19
The winning homeroom, Mrs. Aranavage’s class, competed in a students versus staff volleyball game that the whole school attended.
