Buckeye State Delegates
Chardon Local School District’s 2025 Buckeye State delegates are Will Brooker, Emily Eads, Sarah Eads, Rosemarie McDonald, Lilly Pagano, Mackenzie Siko, Henry Sweet and Walter Sweet.
Each year, Chardon High School faculty members nominate juniors to interview with Chardon American Legion Post 167 to participate in the enriching leadership experience. Post 167 sponsors these students’ participation in the program.
Students are nominated based on their demonstration of characteristics including an interest in government and local events, a high moral character and strong leadership skills, an above-average academic standing and a desire to learn. This year’s delegates attended the Buckeye State program back in June.
Learning About Community Helpers
Students in Chardon Early Learning Center learned about the important roles people play, including first responders, in keeping the community safe. The preschoolers also explored different career paths available throughout the community.
To wrap up the lesson, students made their own firefighter crafts – an activity that strengthened fine motor skills while providing plenty of fun.
