Blacktop Refreshment

Chardon High School National Honor Society students Elaine Lin and Abrielle Allen spent Sept. 20 refreshing the playground blacktop designs at Munson Elementary School at the request of the Munson Parent-Teacher-Organization.

They updated all of the designs, adding their own personal touches and bringing new life and excitement to the space.

The project was originally envisioned by now Hilltopper graduate Briana Massie as part of a Girl Scout project. Over time, the paint wore away from weather and use. Newly refreshed, the blacktop will continue to be a source of fun and excitement for the Munson students.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

Each school year, students in Mrs. Amanda Bunker’s classes volunteer their time, working the concession stand at high school athletic events.

During the fall sports season, Chardon High School students Jon Kettenun and Wesley Ziemak put their math, organizational and social skills to work, helping with various tasks at the concession stand. After working soccer games earlier this month, Jon and Wesley had the honor of signing their names on the wall of the concession booth — a privilege they completed with delight.
