Jeremy’s Kids Fundraiser

This holiday season, Chardon High School’s Actively Caring for People (AC4P) and the Interact Club, in collaboration with the National Honor Society, Sources of Strength, and Student Council, will raise funds for the 25th annual Jeremy’s Kids Christmas fundraiser.

The fundraiser is held in memory of Jeremy Mizen, the 6-year-old son of retired CHS teacher Rob Mizen, who died in a car crash on Christmas Eve in 1999. Instead of dwelling on their horrible loss and having this tragic event destroy their lives, Mr. Mizen and his wife Dee decided that they would instead celebrate Jeremy, focusing on the positive aspects of his life. The funds raised will directly support families in the local community.

Community members may donate through the GoFundMe link at bit.ly/JeremysKids25. Cash or check contributions (payable to Chardon Local Schools with “Jeremy’s Kids” in the memo) are also accepted. For information, contact dawn.weaver@chardonschools.org or joan.blackburn@chardonschools.org

Collections will end on Dec. 12.

Q and U wedding

Munson Elementary School held its Q and U wedding on Nov. 26 – a fun event which teaches students about the relationship between the letters Q and U in spelling. Judge John Eklund served as officiant for the event.

Students had a great time dressing up to represent every letter of the alphabet. The Q and U wedding featured splendid guests including the letter Z, a mouse, princesses and even a pterodactyl.
