Heart Day Celebration

Chardon Middle School fourth-graders recently celebrated Heart Day. They have learned all about having a great heart, literally and figuratively.

On Nov. 21, students expanded their learning on this topic with the help of several members of the Hilltopper community. Parent volunteers who work in various careers associated with cardiovascular health spoke with students. Guest speakers included nurses and doctors who’ve worked with cardiac patients.

Students also got to work on fun crafts and spent some time learning how to reduce stress. They also learned about heart-healthy exercise habits as well.

Finally, students learned about the important role played by first responders. Chardon Fire Chief Justin Geiss and Auburn Career Center students in the EMS program talked about how they help people in the community during emergency situations.
