ASAP, the Chardon High School Active Substance Abuse Prevention Student Group, will host “Crisis in our own Backyard” at 6:30 p.m. April 20 at Chardon High School.

The Crisis in Our Own Backyard

ASAP, the Chardon High School Active Substance Abuse Prevention Student Group, will host “Crisis in our own Backyard” at 6:30 p.m. April 20 at Chardon High School. Opening remarks will be provided by Ohio Sen. John Eklund, (R – 18th District) and leaders from ASAP. This is a not to miss presentation to learn more about the challenges facing youth and what the community can do to be a part of the solution.

Breakout sessions will include: “What’s Happening in Our Town” with Sheriff Hildenbrand, Geauga County Sheriff; The Honorable Judge Stupica, Chardon Municipal Court, and Captain John Blauch, Chardon Fire Department; “Protective Factors, What Can Parents Do” with Missy Bell, Ravenwood, and Matt Petersen, Lake/Geauga Recovery Center; “I Found This, Now What Do I Do? Signs and Signals of Substance Use” by Ravenwood; “Lessons of Hope/Stories of Recovery” with Dave Hanon and others, Lake/Geauga Recovery Center; “Strategies for Managing Stress Successfully” by Family Pride & Ubuntu Wellness; and “Exploring Social Media” with School Resource Officer Mike Shaw, Chardon Police Department. The Exploring Social Media presentation is for parents and adult caregivers only.
