ACADEC Team Wins States
The Chardon High School Academic Decathlon team won the Division II state championship in competition held at John Carroll University on March 3 and 4. On their way to the team total and a championship trophy, team members picked up 12 individual medals, including five gold medals.
State Assessments Begin this Month
The Chardon Schools testing schedule for the 2017 State of Ohio assessments is now posted on the district website. The state-mandated assessments, which begin this month, require students to demonstrate application of knowledge and skills learned and practiced. They also measure mastery of knowledge and skills at a particular point in time, as outlined in the Ohio standards for specific grade levels and courses.
The results of the tests are just one of the tools we use to assess how individual students – and the district – are progressing. By studying data from these assessments, Chardon Schools continues its mission: High achievement for all students, where learning is our most important work.
CMS Hosts Math Competition
Chardon Middle School recently hosted a regional mathematics contest sponsored by the Greater Cleveland Council of Teachers of Mathematics. Forty sixth-grade Hilltoppers participated in the contest, along with some fifth-graders from several Chardon elementary schools.

The following Chardon teams earned a trophy award: Paige Nells, Lucy Beorn, Emma Furjanic, TaylorMyers, Tommy McCauley, Ethan Jackson, Zach Heintz, Justin Phillips, Brady Williams, Charlotte Herbruck, Maddie Atchley and Colin Snider.

Food Service Subs Needed
Chardon Schools has current openings for a great part-time job for people looking to make a little bit of extra cash in the middle of the day while working with kids as a food service cashier, monitor and server.
Chardon Local Schools Food Service maintains a list of substitutes that are called when the regular employees are out. Substitutes are a vital part of the program. Using subs gives the schools the help that they need when employees are unable to work and lets the subs explore job opportunities with the Chardon Local Schools Food Service department.
