KIS Student Council Elected

Kenston Intermediate School students have conducted elections for their 2016-17 Student Council officers.

They are: Summer Corcoran, president; Jack Beclay, vice president; Kyle McMahan, treasurer; and Lindy Kerchenski, secretary.

Classroom representatives elected by their peers are Marissa Cerha, Peter Como, Ava Drcar, Gradyn Flynn, Reese Gabram, Emerson Greene, Maggie Hamm, Katie Harvey, Oliva Hayter, Tyler Jones, Janie Kerchenski, Brett King, Jacob Kovalski, Maddie Little, Hannah Makesh, Alison (Ali) Manis, Ryan Manning, Tanner Mintz, Emily Morgan, Zach Patell, Ben Peters, Maddie Rees, Luke Schaedler, Ruby Swanson, Chloe Syslo and Tyler Wright.

Homecoming Court 2016

Congratulations to the Kenston High School students who were selected by student vote to be 2016 homecoming attendants: freshmen Matt Rosinski and Megan Sparks; sophomores Jack Roman and Caleigh Russell; and juniors Dillon Beal and Zorya Scott.

The homecoming king and queen will be announced at halftime of the game on Oct. 7. The student body will vote to select the king and queen from the senior court of: Dominic Bartolone, Maria D’Amico, Jeff Kadlec, Lauren Parker, Chris Pavone, Marissa Pavone, Ellie Schabel, Garrett Scocos, Justin Stratton and Mikayla Tritabaugh.

Homecoming Parade

Kenston’s annual homecoming parade will take place Oct. 6. The parade, which begins at 6 p.m., will feature the Kenston band and drill team, building floats and individual participants.

The parade will begin in the high school staff parking lot. Please park between the middle school and intermediate school and view from the lawn of the middle school.

Gardiner Center Open House

Join on Oct. 10 to celebrate the opening of the newly renovated Gardiner Center, 9421 Bainbridge Road.

Candidates Night

Political Action Committee of Kenston (PACK) and the Geauga County League of Women Voters will host a Candidates Night Forum on Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. in the Kenston High School, Robert A. Lee Auditorium, 9500 Bainbridge Road.

Candidates and issue representatives will present, followed by a question and answer session from the audience. Campaign materials will also be available.

Submitted In Jeff Brown’s book, “Flat Stanley,” a young boy travels to California on the price of a postage stamp. Third graders at Timmons Elementary School send their own Flat Stanley to friends and family across the country and around the world so they can learn about different communities. Stanley’s adventures are being displayed in the hall and discussed class.
