Five-Year Forecast

State law requires all public schools to file of a five-year financial forecast with the Ohio Department of Education twice a year in October and May. The forecast requires district’s to evaluate their general fund for potential long-term outcomes when making current decisions about new initiatives and fund existing programs and services over multiple years. The multi-year budgeting process lends itself to meeting both short and long-term goals while maintaining financial solvency.

The general fund is the largest district fund. General funds are primarily unrestricted and are used for the day-to-day operation of the school district.

The forecast represents a series of assumptions or estimates of future economic, legislative and market conditions. It is a “snapshot” of variables known or assumed at a particular point in time. Due to the uncertainties and changing nature of school finance and economic factors, this forecast is fluid and subject to change.

Contact Phillip Butto, treasurer, with any questions. The forecast is posted on the district webpage.

KCS Presents “Radium Girls

Tickets are now available online for the Kenston Center Stage production “Radium Girls.” The rapidly paced play with short, quick scenes in many different locations, tells a true story about young women poisoned by radium in the 1920s. Hired to paint watch dials with luminous radium-laced paint and witnessing her friends getting sick and feeling symptoms herself, one young woman begins her fight for justice against the company who denies any culpability.

Eighteen actors play over 40 characters and a large crew works to efficiently transition locations in this fast moving drama. A large rear projection screen flashing black and white photographs, many from news stories of the real events, help set the scenes.

Performance dates are Nov. 11-12 at 7 p.m. and Nov. 13 at 2 p.m. in the Robert A. Lee Auditorium.

All tickets are $8 and all seats are reserved. Ticket sales begin online Nov. 1 on the KHS homepage. To avoid all ticketing fees, tickets may also be purchased at the entrance to the Bomber Café during lunch blocks beginning Nov. 7. Tickets are also sold one hour prior to curtain, but carry an additional $1 processing fee per ticket.
