Classes resume for Kenston students on Jan. 4.
KIT Wrestling Tournament
Kenston High School will host the 52nd annual Kenston Invitational Wrestling Tournament (KIT) on Dec. 29 and 30.
Speech and Debate
Kenston’s Speech and Debate Team placed second out of 27 schools at the Vermilion Tournament. Thirty-four middle and high school students participated in the competition.
Kenston had two tournament champions: Morgan Spehar in Informative Speaking and Jessica Sunderhaft in Program Oral Interpretation.
Placing second was Nick Vitello in Humorous Interpretation. The Duo Interpretation team of Megan Herbruck and Savannah Georgian placed third. Placing fourth was Rory McBrady in Original Oratory and Emma Nidy in Dramatic Interpretation. Kim Voudris placed fifth in Informative Speaking.
Morgan Spehar and Nick Vitello have qualified to participate in the state tournament by earning four bids in the first four competitions of the year. Congratulations to both repeat state qualifiers.
KHS Students of the Month
Congratulations to Kenston High School Students of the Month for January. Selected for special recognition were freshmen John Palmer and Isabel Weinhofer; sophomores Olivia Mendolera and Mitchel Pozwick; juniors Dillon Beal and Jenna Hamilton; and seniors Mya Ober and Lukas Palumbo.
Gift of Music
Kenston wishes everyone the joy of the holiday season. The winter concert season culminated with a performance featuring the high school concert winds, brass quintet, chorale, chorus, vocal quartet, flute choir, symphonic band, jazz ensemble, varsity jazz and the combined symphonic band brass choir and chorus. More than 220 students under the direction of Mrs. Julia Green, Mr. Jeff Link and Mr. Scott Sell shared the gift of music with a capacity audience.
