Salute to Veterans
Veterans were celebrated by third graders at Timmons Elementary School. Every year, the students invite parents, grandparents or a special friend who has served in the military to share stories about military life and their branch of service. Guest speakers often bring military mementos to share.
Students honored the veterans by performing military and patriotic songs.
KMS PEAKs Into STAND
Motivational speaker Morris H. Ervin Jr. visited Kenston Middle School to help students recognize how they treat others. He used friendly childhood games to help students realize how some games they play hurt others.
The assembly is part of the middle school’s S.T.A.N.D. program. S.T.A.N.D. has been established to focus on empowering youth and helping students be more accepting of others. A committee comprised of students, teachers and staff is working to prevent and eliminate inappropriate aggressive behaviors and improve the overall climate of the middle school.
