International Festival
Timmons Elementary School third-graders have been expanding their knowledge about the world. Each student researched a country and shared his or her knowledge with family and friends at the annual International Festival. Students dressed in costume and provided native food.
Top Honors for Speech and Debate
The Kenston High School Speech and Debate Team qualified four students for the state tournament held in Canfield. Congratulations go to Emily Herbruck, Grace Rundelli and Nick Vitello who competed in the first round of competition. Freshman expository speaker Jim Spriggs competed in quarterfinals and placed 13th out of 66 students representing the best in Ohio.
Rotary Senior
Anthony Martin was selected Kenston’s Chagrin Valley Rotary Club Student of the Month for March. He maintains a 4.24 grade point average. He will graduate magna cum laude with an honors diploma this spring. He has also been honored as an AP Scholar with Honors, Chagrin Valley Conference All-Academic for football, Defensive Scout Play of the Year and varsity academic letter winner.
Pushing himself to be his best in the classroom and on the athletic field, Anthony has received two varsity letters in football and two junior varsity letters in baseball. He is an avid member of Political Action Committee at Kenston (PACK), Creating Exceptional Character (CEC) and National Honor Society.
Anthony has been fortunate to participate in Kenston Field Experience, the Western geology trip, once as a student and again as a counselor. The trip incorporates many of the activities he enjoys, including hiking, rock climbing and visiting national parks.
Anthony plans to attend The Ohio State University to study within the Honors Engineering Program either mechanical or aerospace engineering. He also plans to obtain a minor in business.
Center Stage Presents ‘Mary Poppins’
Kenston Center Stage is pleased to present Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s “Mary Poppins” on April 17 and 18 at 7 p.m. and April 19 at 2 p.m. in the Kenston High School auditorium.
“Mary Poppins” is the story of the Banks family who live in a big house in London on Cherry Lane. Things are not going well for the family. The children, Jane and Michael, are out of control and are in need of a new nanny. Mary Poppins takes the children on many magical and memorable adventures, but Jane and Michael aren’t the only ones she has a profound effect upon.
All tickets are reserved and cost $16 for floor and mezzanine and $12 for balcony seats. Tickets go on sale March 23.
