KCS to perform “The Curious Savage”

Kenston Center Stage has announced the cast for the fall drama production of “The Curious Savage.” The Kenston production will feature Matt Ballard, Mia Bester, Savannah Georgian, Sarah Herbruck, Jon Licata, Will McKnight, Riley Potts, Chloe Sferra, Jessica Stirewalt, Nick Vitello and Nathan Wasinski.

“The Curious Savage” by John Patrick is about Mrs. Savage who has inherited $10 million, but her eager stepchildren wish to assist her in disbursing the funds. When she is institutionalized by them, she discovers various social misfits who need the help she can provide. This comedy leaves the audience feeling that the neglected virtues of kindness and affection have not been entirely lost in a world that seems at times to only be motivated by greed and dishonesty.

Performance dates are Nov. 13 and 14 at 7 p.m. and Nov. 15 at 2 p.m. at the Kenston High School, Robert A. Lee Auditorium.

Internet Safety Event

About 15 percent of Americans have never checked their social networking privacy and security account settings.

On Sept. 30, Kenston PTO will host nationally recognized Internet safety presenter Jesse Weinberger at 7 p.m. in the Robert A. Lee Auditorium at Kenston High School, 9500 Bainbridge Road.

Her program, “Do you know how to keep your children safe in an always connected digital society?” will cover topics including Understanding Social Media, Cyberbullying, Sexting and Sexual Predation.

The free community event is for adults only.

Homecoming Parade

Kenston’s annual homecoming parade will take place Sept. 24. The parade, which begins at 6:30 p.m., will feature the Kenston band and drill team, building floats and individual participants. The theme this year is “Hollywood.”

The parade will follow a route similar to past years. Please park between the middle school and intermediate school and view from the lawn of the middle school.

The parade will be followed by a pep rally and student versus staff soccer game in the stadium.
