Third-graders selected to represent their class as student council members were Sasha Baum, Sabrina Billock, Ben Fink, Grady Flynn, Rory Healy, Maddie Little, Luke Mack, Ali Manis, Hayden Masotti, Tanner Mintz, Maggie Nelson, Ben Peters, Peter Spellacy, Jake Spencer, Paige White and Andrew Wilkomm.

Timmons Lunch Bunch

Congratulations to Timmons Ele-mentary School students selected for Lunch Bunch honors for September.

The following kindergartners honored with “responsibility” awards were Abigail Fink, Braden Greene, Emerson Hallen, Mia Kwon, Careese Rice, Lyla Taylor and Keira Walz. First-graders honored were Eleana DeWitt, Emily Grubich, Greylan Lewis, Zachary Mosnik, Sadie Petrash, Jodi Sell and Giuliana Walters.

Second-graders were Avari Amstutz, Allison English, Aurora Johnson, Ever Phillips, Raegan Timmons, Marin Walz and Trevor Winter. Third-graders were Maddison Bushnell, Ashley Chu, Reese Gabram, Ella Mackey, Samantha Pijor, Luke Schmidt, Elena Seman and Sophia Thomas.

College Ready Ohio

Students in Mrs. Shannon Wirthwein’s social studies classes, Sal Maiorana’s science classes and Tony Marchesi’s English classes have been given 300 iPads to use this semester as part of a Straight A Grant. The Ohio State University is partnering with Kenston High School and nine other districts across the state to build the academic foundation for student success by providing digital learning tools and resources. Professional development is being provided to teachers to learn how to create, organize and deliver their own digital learning materials.

Green Energy Ohio Tour

Kenston Schools will be featured as part of the 13th annual statewide Green Energy Ohio Tour on Oct. 3. At Kenston, the tour will feature the district’s 750 kW Aeronautica wind turbine, 33.12 kilowatt solar PV (photovoltaic) array, with a fixed array, tracker and reference array along with a solar thermal array. All major renewable energy equipment is American made.

The Wizards Are Back

Don’t miss the fun-filled, high-flying and interactive community event featuring the world-famous Harlem Wizards basketball team, as it takes on a team of Kenston High School students joined by teachers and administrators from all the Kenston school buildings on Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. in the high school’s main gym.

There are a limited number of tickets available; Wizards games sell out fast. Get tickets in the KCE office or online at KenstonCommunityEd.org (Click “Search for Activities” and enter “Wizards”).

The event is a fund-raiser for Kenston High School PTO.
