Kenston Schools will be closed Nov. 26 and 27 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

Timmons Lunch Bunch

Congratulations to Timmons Elementary School Students selected for Lunch Bunch honors in November.

The following kindergartners honored with “honesty” awards were Chase Altmann, Jacob Beisner, Robert Hairston, Caroline Hamby, Emma Kosmerl, It’sabella Kovalski and Paul Thompson. First-graders honored were Wesley Abrahamson, Brooklyn Alexander, Brigitte Edwards, Jane Eibler, Maxim Krooglik, Adeline Traylor and Daniella Valadez.

Second-graders were Ethan Black, Brooke Bowdren, Charlotte Cowan, Savannah Devlin, Madison Mintz, Jacob Smith and Robert Sopis. Third-graders were Evan Branthoover, Charles Cianciolo, William Eisner, Samantha Gautam, Jacob Kovalski, Annabelle Pritchard, Sophia Strauss and Alexandria Ungaro.

KIS Students of the Month

Kenston Intermediate School is pleased to announce their Students of the Month for November. Students selected for Student of the Month were honored with “honesty” awards.

They are fourth-graders: Hailey Bonne, Katelyn Brogan, Sam Koltas, AnnMarie Lemons, Nathan Lytle, Ava Nowak, Will Rottman, Troy Sotera, Molly Spehar, Logan Standley and Cooper Timmons; and fifth-graders: Grant Beclay, Brinley Brown, Tyler Brownfield, Tyler Jones, Mitch Lai, Matthew Latz, Delaney Nalepka, Madelyn Rees, Sofia Salvini, Alayna Stachiw and Tristan Tubbs.

All Academic

Congratulations to the students who earned All Academic honors for 2015 fall sports. To be selected for this award, students must have a cumulative average after seven semesters of 3.25 GPA or better and have lettered in their sport for two years.

Cross country student athletes were Tyler Cooper, Katie Grendell, Lauren Lance, Emily McDonough, Hannah Richardson and Drew Sanders. Receiving honors in football were Parker Gdula, McKade Hatfield, Collin Kure, Matthew Shell and Jospeh Zoretich. Golfers Sierra Culver and Stephanie Yohe were honored.

Soccer players Erica Abbarno, Jason Bernzweig, Tyler Cooper, Maggie Krause, George Mallinos, Nicole Martin, CJ Maynard, Hunter Neal, Rachel Padala, Nathan Spicuzza, Olivia Taylor and Emily Tewksbury received All Academic honors from the Western Reserve Conference.

Girls tennis players Nicole Doran and Savannah Lamb-Stitts received All Academic honors. Volleyball players Carly Artino, Sydney Gorski, Michala Jepson, Samantha Layman, Sydney Robbins and Amanda Schaefer were recognized with an All Academic award. Cheerleaders Samantha Adams, Samantha Barrett and Morgan Measures were recognized with All Academic honors.

Rotary Senior

Hannah Richardson has been selected Kenston’s Chagrin Valley Rotary Club Student of the Month. She has earned department academic awards in mathematics, business and English while maintaining a 4.277 GPA.

Her scores on the PSAT/MNSQT earned her National Merit Commended Scholars honors. She was named an AP Scholar with Distinction for earning an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP exams taken and grades of 3 or higher on five or more of the exams. Hannah was awarded the Pauline Krug Founder’s Award for leading the winning team while attending business camp at Lake Erie College.

Hannah is an active member and serves in leadership roles for the Political Action Committee at Kenston, Student Council, Janus Literary Magazine, Business Club, Statistics Club and the Interact Club. She is a four-year athlete, running cross country, indoor and outdoor track.

As a Girl Scout since 2003, Hannah earned the Silver and Bronze awards for completing local service projects. As an active member and leader of her church’s youth group, she has had the opportunity to volunteer in a variety of programs assisting people with disabilities, projects at Rescue Village and Auburn Cemetery.

She plans to major in economics and political science.

Silver Bells Holiday Boutique

The Kenston High School Parent Teacher Organization is hosting the Silver Bells Boutique on Dec. 5 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the high school, 9500 Bainbridge Road. The show will feature over 80 unique local vendors, junior craft vendors, Cookie Castle and raffle prizes. The event is a fundraiser for Kenston AfterProm and Timmons One School One Book program.
