Save the Date: “Damn Yankees”

Kenston Center Stage is pleased to present “Damn Yankees” on April 15 and 16 at 7 p.m. and April 17 at 2 p.m. in the Kenston High School auditorium.

The classic Broadway musical is a real crowd pleaser. It opened on Broadway in 1955, winning the Tony for best musical. It also won a Drama Desk award in 1994 for outstanding revival and starred Jerry Lewis as the devil, Mr. Applegate.

The story revolves around Joe Boyd, the number one fan of the Washington Senators baseball team. Mr. Applegate gives Joe the opportunity to recapture his youth and become the “one good long ball hitter” the Senators need to beat their much hated rivals and finally win the pennant. There’s just one problem. He must sell his soul to “you-know-who” and soon finds out the deal comes with unanticipated consequences.

This nostalgic trip back in time will take viewers to the heyday of America’s favorite past time. Tickets through the KHS website go on sale April 4. Tickets are $16 for mezzanine, $14 for floor and $10 for the balcony.
