Meet & Greet

Cardinal Local School District is pleased to provide the opportunity for the community and staff to meet its new superintendent, Dr. Scott J. Hunt. The district will be hosting an informal reception at the Board Office on May 13 from 3:30-5:30 p.m.

Jordak Receives Mazda Student Achievement Grant

Jordak Elementary received a Mazda Student Achievement Grant for innovative applications to promote student literacy offered through the National Education Association Foundation. Mrs. Butler, speech therapist, and Mrs. Nappier, intervention specialist, were awarded this grant to introduce technology to individualize instruction and assist reading intervention for students in grades 1-3.

Students utilize laptops and research-based software programs that address skill areas of phonemic awareness, vocabulary, grammar, comprehension and auditory memory skills. The technology enhances collaboration, data collection and student motivation across all areas of the curriculum.

The school is very happy to have a few volunteers for Monday afternoons and Tuesday mornings and would be eager to have more volunteers for all the days of the week. Anyone interested in volunteering may contact Rosa Dasco at Jordak Elementary School.

United Way Recognizes CMS

The Cardinal Middle School Student Council was recently recognized by the United Way Services of Geauga County for going “above and beyond” in their UW campaigns. Because of the commitment and efforts of many groups, including CMS Student Council, many lives have been positively impacted.
