Lion Stadium Ceremony

Alumni, staff, board members and friends of NDCL celebrated the recently completed enhancements to Lion Stadium with a re-dedication ceremony and blessing on Aug. 24.

“With absolute gratitude and hope, we re-dedicate Lion Stadium,” Notre Dame Schools President Michael Bates shared in his remarks at the ceremony. “I am grateful to the leadership of the Sisters of Notre Dame, the Cathedral Latin Alumni Association, the Notre Dame Schools Board of Directors, NDCL Athletic Boosters and to the many people who give so generously to make these efforts possible,” he added.

Enhancements to the fan experience include: 1,400-seat home grandstand and press box on west side of field, permanent restrooms, permanent concessions, permanent Lion Spirit Shop, ticket windows, new entry plaza and alumni patio.

During the blessing ceremony, NDCL unveiled a cornerstone saved from Cathedral Latin School after the building was demolished in 1981. The cornerstone’s prominent placement in the stadium’s plaza honors the foundation laid by the Men of Latin in partnership with the Sisters of Notre Dame to create the exceptional school community that is Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin School today.

Flash School Supply Drive

Thanks to the quick, generous response of the NDCL community, children on Cleveland’s East Side will start school with the supplies they need for a successful school year.

The Campus Ministry launched a flash school supply drive last week after realizing that many of the young friends whom students visit weekly through the Labre Ministry were worried about starting school without notebooks, folders and other school supplies. In just three days, students collected hundreds of items that were packed up in colorful backpacks that they delivered personally to dozens of smiling, eager boys and girls the week of Aug. 22.
