Research studies NDCL seniors Alexis Hammer and Michelle King are among the sophisticated internship projects featured on the Cleveland Clinic’s myRESEARCH website. Alexis and Michelle landed paid summer internships with the Clinic after succeeding in a highly competitive process that included a written application and personal interview with Clinic professionals. In recent years, NDCL students have won 30 internship appointments at the Clinic—more than any other Catholic high school in the Clinic’s market area.
Senior Shines in Competition
NDCL junior Madelyn Wanke was recognized the top award in the first Shining Star CLE competition on Oct. 22. Maddy was among 10 finalists that performed at the Ohio Theatre stage in Playhouse Square in front of an audience of over 800. She was awarded a $10,000 college scholarship plus an opportunity to perform with the Cleveland Pops Orchestra at Severance Hall.
The Shining Star CLE program is a unique singing competition that gives Ohio students a chance to compete for college scholarships. Proceeds from the event benefit dementia/memory care programs at Montefiore, a full-service senior healthcare campus in Beachwood, The Weils – a Montefiore senior living campus in Chagrin Falls and in the community with innovative, in-home memory care program.
